UK MUSIC: FRIXION FEATURING FDM – ‘AFRAID’

New group Frixion have teamed up with FDM (aka Fun*dmental) on their debut single Afraid. I really like this song and it’s good to see FDM back on the scene. It’s strange this is Frixion’s debut single but FDM almost steal the show. But the groups do sound good together and I think Afraid will go on to become a hit single. Release Date: July 26th Your thoughts please. Hit or Miss?

UK MUSIC: ORIE – ‘ZONIN’ / ‘FLY WITH ME’

UK artist Orie has just released the videos to his  singles  Zonin and Fly With Me. Check it out below. The intro goes on for too long and the vocals sound slightly off-key and shaky, but perhaps this was done deliberately for effect??? However this is the type of dance track that will probably get some air play in other parts of Europe. The video –  I don’t really understand it, but that’s one interesting looking blond chick. Your thoughts please. Hit or Miss? Your []

UK MUSIC: ANGHA FT DELE – FOR YOU

Check out British Hip Hop duo Angha and their debut single For You, featuring Dele. For You is a well produced track, but it sounds very familiar, and has that late 90s / early noughties American R&B/Hip Hop saccharine sweat fusion going on. It actually reminds me of Jennifer Lopez’s 2001 hit featuring Nas, I’m Gonna Be Alright. Click HERE to watch. And for some reason Ja Rule’s 2004 track New York. Click HERE to watch. Duo Angha sound okay, but for []

UK FILM: 4.3.2.1 REVIEW

I recently attended the press screening for the highly anticipated new British film 4.3.2.1, starring Noel Clarke, Emma Roberts, Adam Deacon, Tasmin Egerton, Shanika Warren-Markland and Ophelia Lovibond. 4.3.2.1 follows the lives of four best friends who become involved in a major diamond heist. A much put upon and harassed Joanne (Emma Roberts) works shifts in a 24 hour supermarket. A job she clearly despises and you get the impression that she doesn’t have much of a social life. Kerrys (Shanika Warren-Markland) is a strong, outspoken, []

UK MUSIC: SWAY FT DONAE’O – ‘POP A BOTTLE’

Rapper Sway’s new single featuring Donae’O  Pop A Bottle is your typical “urban” mainstream track designed to infiltrate the UK single chart. It will sell. Donae’O sings he wants a “Coca Cola bottle shape”.   Singing about wanting a woman with a Coca Cola bottle shape is  so Reggae/Dancehall circa ‘1992’. The video – Well it’s not particularly original. Woman dancing in a nightclub, champagne and silhouette shots. Yeah seen it all before. Pop A Bottle will be released July 12th on iTunes. []

UK MUSIC: LIL SIMZ – FALL TO THE FLOOR

Check out 16-year-old singer, rapper and producer Lil Simz (real name Simbi Ajikawo) debut single Fall To The Floor. I wasn’t expecting to like this at all, but the track is really catchy, with an old skool vibe running through it. I can also  see the youngsters really going for this and embracing her. Lil Simz here could have a mainstream hit on her hands. Your thoughts please. Hit or Miss? *Am I the only one who thinks she sounds like a []

VIDEO: GINUWINE – TOUCH ME

R&B singer Ginuwine is back with the new single Touch Me. The track sounds dated (mid-90s vibe) but it isn’t bad. However the video, directed by Rik Cordero is TERRIBLE!!!! By the looks of things the budget for this video did not exceed $50.00 And what is going on with Ginuwine’s hair? Is he using the same product Jermaine Jackson uses to slick down his own hair? Oh dear…. [Thanks Brown Eyez/Social Writer Blog] Your thoughts please. Hit or Miss?

UK VIDEO: SELAH FT SADIE AMA & MZ BRATT – WOMAN’S WORLD

When I first posted Woman’s World on the site several months ago I said that I liked it, and still do. However I still think that they could have done without the guest rapper on the track. There are songs out there that don’t require a rapper to spit bars. This is one of them. But regardless I think the song will be a hit. The video – They all look beautiful standing in front of the black background, but the other []
