hit or miss?

VIDEO: LLOYD FEATURING MYSTIKAL – SET ME FREE

Singer Lloyd (I forgot all about him) has teamed up with recently released convicted sex offender / rapper Mystikal on his new single Set Me Free. Good luck Lloyd. Your thoughts please. Hit or Miss?

UK MUSIC: TINIE TEMPAH – FRISKY

Tinie Tempah’s latest single Frisky sounds pretty good. His style of rapping sounds familiar though. But I can’t quite put my finger on who he reminds me of yet. Anyway I like the track but cannot stand the “chocolate biscuit”  line. It sounds out of place. Your thoughts please. Hit or Miss?

UK MUSIC: CHIPMUNK – SUPERSTAR

Rapper Chipmunk tells us he wants to be a “superstar” in his latest single.  He wants the money, the fame blah blah blah, but “doesn’t want the stress”. Yeah good luck with that Chippy. When I look at Chipmunk and read his posts via Twitter, I can just tell it’s all gone to his head. The guy has one of the biggest ego’s out there. Yes as a rapper you’re supposed to have a certain air of confidence and swagger, but there []

VIDEO: DRAKE – FIND YOUR LOVE

When I first got word that Drake was flying down to Kingston Jamaica to film the video for Find Your Love I said, I bet the over-rated singer/rapper and crew members visit one of Kingston’s notorious Garrisons (Ghettos), and film “sweet boy” Drake surrounded by poverty and zinc housing. It was obvious to me that they were going to go down this predictable route, and portray Jamaicans as being nothing more than heavy weed smoking, sweaty, gun-toting murderers, who reside in some []

UK MUSIC: SKEPTA – RESCUE ME

Today I watched new afternoon BBC2 show No Hats No Trainers, and rapper Skepta was a main feature on the show. He is an attractive man. I hadn’t really paid that much attention to him before, but that all changed today! Anyway check out Skepta’s latest single Rescue Me which actually sounds pretty good. It also has that mainstream appeal, and will probably go on to become his  first UK number 1 single. The video – Is he supposed to be in []

UK MUSIC: LUNAKIDZ FT MDX – ‘SLIIPPIN’

Introducing Midnite and D Nicks, who together make MDX, a talented new music act coming out of the UK. Their new single Slippin is from the production duo and record label, Lunakidz, who are set to make a big impact on the UK music scene Slippin is released on May 24th. I like this track.  Decent production and duo MDX have potential. I see Slippin going on to get air play on BBC 1xtra / BBC Radio 1 and eventually entering the []

VIDEO: BEYONCE – WHY DON’T YOU LOVE ME

I thought Beyonce was taking a 6 month break away from the limelight?? 6 months hasn’t passed yet! Kelly Rowland has just dropped her new single Commander and now Beyonce comes out of nowhere with this. Coincidence? The Knowles clan just refuse to let Kelly shine. Your thoughts please. Hit or Miss?

VIDEO: CHRISTINA AGUILERA – NOT MYSELF TONIGHT

Christina Aguilera is back with the new single Not Myself Tonight and it’s okay.  They will play it in clubs across Europe. The video:  Only one word can describe this video – DESPERATE. Did Madonna’s 1996 video for Human Nature inspire this mess? See  for yourselves! Everyone seems to be stealing from Madonna and Grace Jones these days. Anyway Hype Williams apparently directed the video.  If true then Hype’s creative juices dried up and turned to dust in the early noughties. Nicki []

VIDEO: TONI BRAXTON – YESTERDAY

Toni Braxton’s new single Yesterday will be released here in the UK on May 3rd, and her album Pulse will drop on May 10th. The single in my opinion sounds lacklustre. Toni’s other track Hands Tied is well produced and is a hundred times better than this. Yesterday (in parts) also sounds like Beyonce’s Halo. The video – It looks like it was hastily put together. Toni should fire her make-up artist, and it doesn’t look like much thought went in to []

VIDEO: GAPPY RANKS – ‘LONG TIME’

Check out reggae artist Gappy Rank’s new single Long Time. This track definitely gets a thumbs up from me. Your thoughts please. Hit or Miss? Check out Gappy’s recent interview with Marvin Sparks. Click HERE to read.
