London rapper MR Mitchell releases the music video for his first solo track ‘Off The Coathanger’, since parting ways from the duo, The Mitchell Brothers. This track is taken from his forthcoming EP ‘Irregular Beats and Art Attacks’, scheduled to be released this summer. When I first watched the opening of the video I thought Off The Coathanger was going to be a slow, depressing and dull typical UK Hip Hop track, but it’s uptempo. Off The Coathanger has that old skool […]
Those of you who tuned in to the Channel 4 documentary series The Family will no doubt remember self-employed web designer Ayo Adesina aka MC Dark-E who dreamed of Hip Hop stardom, and sat in his bedroom making beats and writing rhymes. Well Mr “I’m young and I’m black surrounded by crack” is still pursuing his dream of Hip Hop superstardom, and his debut single Miss Education will be released on the 16 May. The track could be worse. Your thoughts please. Hit or Miss?
F U Right is taken from East-Londoner Dele’s EP Coming To Age. The track is steamy and seductive and gives us an insight in to what the 23-year-old singer is prepared to do to his girlfriend. Dele sounds a bit like R Kelly. This is the kind of track that Kelly would have released perhaps in the early noughties. I can really hear him singing this. But I really like this track and Dele is easy on the eye. Yep it definitely […]
Check out rapper Ayo’s new single Miracle featuring new vocalist Alex Martin. Miracle will be released on the 15 May. I thought auto-tune had more or less been laid to rest but no it’s still alive and kicking! There is nothing original about this track. We’ve heard this kind of song before. But Miracle will get the air play and may become a chart hit because this type of sound is all the rage now. Your thoughts please. Hit or Miss?
Taken from his new mixtape the Piffmixtape , rapper/soul artist Chronic brings us What’s Wrung Is Right. From deep roots in Africa, Chronic is an international hip hop / soul artist with a dynamic flow, stage presence and a five star lyricist.Chronic has been rapping since the tender age of 4 and has not stopped since then. Chronic is a man of few words, he prefers for his music to be his weapon of choice. All I can think of when I […]
Willow Smith is back with the new single 21st Century Girl. It’s no Whip My Hair but it’s not a bad single. Young girls Willow’s age will embrace the single and it will go top 10. Your thoughts please. Hit or Miss?
Usher’s descent in to Dance/Pop still continues to destroy my soul. Call me when the DUMBING down has stopped, and Usher has gone back to being the slick R&B star that he once was. Your thoughts please. Hit or Miss?
UK songstress Selah is back with the new single Out My House featuring Donaeo. Selah has a good voice, she just needs to feature on a really well produced, unique, show stopping track, that will help catapult her to the next level. A trip to New York/LA should be arranged so she can get the opportunity to work with some top notch producers there. However having said that Out My House isn’t a bad single but I don’t see it becoming a […]
For years Hip Hop fans have been waiting patiently for the return of Dr Dre and he has finally returned with the single I Need A Doctor. I’m sorry but I cannot stand this track. I Need A Doctor is weak, hilariously over dramatic and so obviously geared towards a mainstream audience. This is no Still Dre. I also CANNOT STAND the tone of Eminem’s voice. What is that all about???? Who at Interscope convinced him that he sounds good when he raps in that tone of voice? Rubbish! The video – The opening […]
I keep seeing Jaya’s name popping up on Twitter, but this is the first time I’ve listened to one of her tracks. Outta Control features Young Simmons (yes oldest son of the annoying Rev Run Simmons) and UK rapper Wretch 32. Jaya has a pleasant enough voice but the song isn’t really my cup of tea. I can however see it getting regular spins on BBC 1xtra. The video – well it’s not supposed to be funny…but it is. Your thoughts please. […]
