UK NEWS: ACTOR NOEL CLARKE FURIOUS WITH THE GUARDIAN OVER MISLEADING ARTICLE

A misleading article published on The Guardian website has angered actor Noel Clarke. According to blogger and film critic Ben Child, Clarke’s horror flick Storage 24 was America’s lowest grossing film of 2013. Child wrote: A British horror set in a self-storage facility from actor and film-maker Noel Clarke was the poorest performing movie at the US box office last year with a paltry £44 ($72) haul.  Storage 24 was shot on a reportedly tiny budget of around £1.6m and was Clarke’s first film to appear in American []

ARTICLE OF THE DAY: ‘THE BIGGEST FALL FROM RACE’ – BY DOTUN ADEBAYO

Last month former footballer and anti-racism campaigner Paul Elliott (48) dramatically resigned from all his positions within the Football Association after it was revealed he called ex-Charlton player Richard Rufus a “nigger” during an argument over a failed business venture.  Click here to read all about it. According to reports Elliott later insisted that the term was not offensive because both men involved are black. *HUGE SIGH* Anyway today I came across this article written by radio presenter and journalist Dotun Adebayo MBE, which discusses Elliott’s terrible gaffe. QUOTE OF THE DAY: UK RAPPER FEM FEL (THE HIP HOP AND ‘NIGGA’ DEBATE RAGES ON)

Yesterday website moorizZLA Says posted the article ‘Use of the ‘n word’ in Hip Hop music – Does it perpetuate racism? The piece discussed the prevalence of the word “nigger’ in today’s Hip Hop music and it’s crossover in to the mainstream. Excerpt from the article: The prevalence of the use of the word in hip-hop music has arguably greatly increased over the years. And with the crossing over of hip hop culture into the mainstream, one in which the majority of its consumers are white, []

CONTROVERSIAL ARTICLE OF THE DAY: ‘WHERE IS THE BLACK OUTRAGE OVER THUSHA?’

Check out this controversial article written by journalist Nirpal Dhaliwal Via The Evening Standard This week’s report into last summer’s riots found that the shooting of Mark Duggan was apparently the last straw for a black community under siege from the Met and its stop-and-search tactics. But this week has also seen the conviction of three young black men for shooting a five-year-old girl, Thusha Kamaleswaran, through the spine in an attempted gangland hit. The killing of a known criminal and gang []

ARTICLE OF THE DAY: ‘SOMEONE HAS TO TELL THE TRUTH ABOUT FASHION’

The great, the good, the famous and the shallow have been out sipping champagne at London Fashion Week shows and controversial Daily Mail writer Liz Jones has written an hilarious article (well I think it’s funny) about her time spent at a LFW show. See below excerpts from the article. When I read all the other reviews of the [Stella] McCartney love-in, I felt as if I was living in a parallel universe. ‘I was in the queue for the loo with []

ESQUIRE MAGAZINE UK (MAY 2010): THE JAY-Z NAUSEATING LOVEFEST CONTINUES

[Thanks Mikey] Jay-Z is featured in the May 2010 issue of Esquire Magazine UK – “Jay-Z  Why He’s  The CEO Of Cool”, and TV/radio personality Jonathan Ross has written an article about the rapper. The British mainstream media’s obsession with Jay is just nauseating! You have BBC Radio personality Jo Whiley who I always associate with the Indie Rock scene,  fawning, cooing and wetting herself over Jay and now Jonathan’s his biggest fan. To some Jay-Z is now the acceptable face of []

So Grazia’s tackling controversial subject matters of this nature now are they? When did that happen? I thought they just featured news on celebrities, fashion and gossip. Anyway your thoughts please…..

DAMON DASH’S STRANGE NEW VENTURE – THE HIPPIE ART COLLECTIVE

We all know that after riding on the crest of a wave for a number of years (boasting and often humiliating people in public) former music mogul Damon Dash finally crashed and burned after he cut all ties with Jay-Z back in 2004. However this recently published article in the New York Observer caught my attention today. Dame might be still struggling financially but he has a number of projects on the go, including the critically acclaimed Blak Roc project, and also seems to have lost his mind (as well as weight) in []
