Justin Bieber hanging out with the 'homies'

Justin Bieber ‘chillin with my niggas’

It has not been a good couple of weeks for singer Justin Bieber.

The Sun newspaper released footage of a then 15 year old Bieber telling a racist joke and later on released  footage of the star singing about joining the white supremacist organisation the Ku Klux Klan, singing “there will be one less nigger.

Justin has since issued an apology and black celebrities have jumped up from under their rocks to defend Bieber.

Usher Raymond – “At my core, I am a person that supports growth and understands without judgement, that growth often comes as a result of pain and continued effort.  As I have watched Justin Bieber navigate difficult waters as a young man, I can tell you that he hasn’t always chosen the path of his greatest potential, but he is unequivocally not a racist. What he was 5 years ago was a naive child who did not understand the negative power and degradation that comes from playing with racial slurs. What he is now is a young man faced with an opportunity to become his best self, an example to the millions of kids that follow him to not make the same mistakes.”

Whoopi ‘IDIOT’ Goldberg – “You know, Canadian words… nigger doesn’t mean anything in Canada. And how do I know this? Well, I did a movie last year, in Canada and a young, wonderful Canadian woman wrote it, and I’m reading it and I’m thinking, ‘We wouldn’t say anything like this.’ So I went to the director and I said, what is this? And he said, oh, she lives here. And I said so she doesn’t know anything, she doesn’t get what we’re talking about. What I’m saying is that, when you are 15 and you’re some place where that’s not a word that you have associated with people of colour … they weren’t calling them that,”.

Floyd Mayweather – “Justin has been nothing but kind to me, my daughters and sons over the years,” he wrote. We all make mistakes when we are young, it’s part of growing up. I am proud of what he’s doing as a 20 year old musician and business man.”

50 Cent –I don’t think he’s racist. I don’t think he even knows who he is at this point – he’s so young. When you see people become huge stars real early, it’s tough for them. You have to grow up with all these expectations. I think Justin’s still a baby and he’s lost.’

Young Money Entertainment (Lil Wayne, Birdman etc) –“Justin has legitimately adopted the culture of the hip hop, African American culture.” [President – Mack Maine].

Yesterday I came across this interesting article written by Ebony Magazine Senior Editor Jamilah Lemieux.  In the article Jamilah discusses Bieber’s current predicament and questions why so many black male celebrities in their 30s and 40s seem to have, what I can only describe as being some sort of fetish for the 20 year old.

I’ve long since been creeped out by the relationship some of these other industry guys have to Bieber. There is something…curious about a bunch of Black men in their 30s and 40s who are so hyped about hanging out with a just barely post-pubescent White kid. He’s got a decent enough singing voice, but it’s not like he’s the Michael Jackson of his time or something. And these guys have their own money, so it isn’t that they are hangers on looking for a check. Why would a full-grown Black man who postures like a thug be so hyped to kick it with this delicate flower of White boyhood? I need answers.  Click here to read the full article.

I myself have been questioning these strange relationships for some time now . When did this all start and why?  What is it that attracts rappers like Lil Wayne and Rick Ross to Bieber?

Enquiring minds would like to know.

It’s not so long ago when Justin was running around with a pudding bowl hair cut,  singing  teen Pop tunes, signing autographs for 10 year old girls, and as we have all just discovered, told racist jokes.

Then the next thing you know Justin is walking in to fights with boxing champion Floyd Mayweather *confused face*, partying in night clubs (topless) flanked by rappers, and acting the damn fool with a large group of black “friends” who just seemed to have appeared from out of nowhere one day.

His entourage, his image and demeanour practically changed over night

What is really going on here?

Like Jamilah I need answers too.

Your thoughts please….

  1. Meh. He said some really dumb shit when he was a kid. I mean, he’s technically still a kid, but Y’all know what I mean.

FAR more important shit going on in the world than this dude saying some asshat shit when he was young and dumb.

  2. Yes there is more important stuff going on, we are all aware of that but there is room to discuss important and minor news on here and I still want to know what the fascination is with this young man.

And for the record he’s probably still running the same jokes now only now with his new black friends.

  3. I feel bad for Donald Stirling. I mean where were all these black celebs when he needed defending lol

  4. Whoopi’s comments had me screwing up my face like Crazy Eyes. I thought she was smarter than that. It seems as though some Black folks have decided that age is a factor now when it comes to making racist remarks. So JB was young and dumb, but Donald Sterling wasn’t some old dude who was born in a different era so gets a pass??

Those two and all the others in between are just as bad as each other. I won’t be defending them anytime soon. Janice did you see the pics of Donald Sterling trying to redeem himself by attending a Black church and those fools applauded him like he had actually done something?

When are people going to learn these White people who show their arse don’t give a damn about Black folks just because they happen to sleep with, smoke with or hang with a select few. And if I see another dumb comment on Instagram that he can’t be racist because he hangs with Black people again. I’ve read interviews of BNP and NF member dating Black women. (Crazy but true), and Black women dating White men but still speaking negatively about White people as a whole.

And 14 or 15 is no excuse. I knew about racism and I also knew the power behind derogatory words at that age. He needs a better PR team.

  5. @Janice
Shocked with your bullshit line about his “entourage changing overnight.”
Bieber has been hanging with black kids with 2010, and it was this and talks with Usher et al, that shifted his small-town racially insensitive ignorance to embrace the culture.
    That’s something to celebrate.
Bieber made comments as a child that were inappropriate. All children do.
He is clearly not a racist and attempts to link him to Sterling – with his decades of alleged discriminatory practices – are stupefyingly ludicrous.
Since you yourself knocked out all the reasons why black man should hang with them – many of which by the way were racist and limiting in themselves – that leaves the obvious.
He’s a nice guy and they like him.
    Deal with it.
