UK MUSIC: WRETCH 32 – BORN WINNER

‘Born Winner’ is taken from Wretch’s new mixtape ‘Wretch32.com’. Erm… “Wizzy Wow” ?????? Anyway…. Lyrical Content and Flow –  Wretch is OK. I’ve heard a lot worse. Production – It’s decent. I like the beat. Image – UK male artists (rappers in particular) seriously need to develop close business relationships with fashion houses, stylists, barbers and nutritionists. Your thoughts please. Hit or Miss?

VIDEO: THE COMPLEXION OBSESSION (PART 1)

Part one of the documentary ‘The Complexion Obsession’ takes a look at Hip Hop video models, and why the industry tends to favour light skinned women over dark skinned women. Yes the light skinned / dark skinned debate still rages on in 2010!

UK MUSIC: TY – ‘EMOTIONS’

“Emotions” featuring Sarina Leah and Shaun Escoffery (release date 16th March 2010), is the debut single from UK hip hop legend Ty’s forthcoming album “Special Kind of Fool” on BBE. An uplifting bubbler featuring Ty’s trademark candor and inimitable flow, it’s an infectious dance floor music track, with depth. Look out for the remixes from heavyweight producers including Daz-I-Kue, Waajeed, Dego (4Hero) and Akwasi.   “Emotions” is also Mista Jam’s “Jam Hot” single of the week, and he will be chatting to Ty on his Radio 1Xtra []

UK MUSIC: BASHY FT LOICK – WHEN THE SKY FALLS

When The Sky Falls is taken from the Shank film soundtrack (it’s the theme song), and also stars rapper Bashy. When The Sky Falls is no Kidulthood to Adulthood, which as far as I am concerned is Bashy’s best track to date! But the youngsters will probably like it. Your thoughts please. Hit or Miss?

DAMON DASH’S STRANGE NEW VENTURE – THE HIPPIE ART COLLECTIVE

We all know that after riding on the crest of a wave for a number of years (boasting and often humiliating people in public) former music mogul Damon Dash finally crashed and burned after he cut all ties with Jay-Z back in 2004. However this recently published article in the New York Observer caught my attention today. Dame might be still struggling financially but he has a number of projects on the go, including the critically acclaimed Blak Roc project, and also seems to have lost his mind (as well as weight) in []
