PICS/LIVE RUN DOWN: MOBO AWARDS 2008 (WEMBLEY ARENA – LONDON)

I am sitting here watching the awards ceremony right now. So far…..  Mel B and Rev Run are doing a decent job of hosting the ceremony. They have good chemistry. John Legend opened the show. His performance was surprisingly weak and he was failing to hit the high notes. Estelle won Best UK Female. Congratulations! But her dress looked like it was designed by Tina Knowles and she has now developed an annoying transatlantic twang. Leona Lewis won Best Album (‘Spirit’). She wasn’t there to collect her []

UK NEWS: LEUKAEMIA SURVIVOR DANIEL DE GALE DIES

Daniel De Gale (March 14th 1987 – October 2008)  [Thanks Agnes] I just received the sad news that leukaemia survivor Daniel De Gale sadly passed away today. Daniel was diagnosed with Leukaemia in 1993 at the age of six and was put on a 2 year course of chemotherapy which he completed in March 1995. But after being in remission for just 9 months, he relapsed in December 1995, when a routine blood test revealed leukaemia cells again. With no assurance that a []

UK MUSIC: ALESHA DIXON – ‘THE BOY DOES NOTHING’

UK MUSIC – THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY Former Mis-Teeq group member and ‘Celebrity Strictly Come Dancing’ winner Alesha Dixon’s new track ‘The Boy Does Nothing’ (taken from her forthcoming album ‘The Alesha Show’), premiered today, and is exactly what I expected from Alesha. Irritating, weak, radio friendly, mainstream bubblegum pop. And I doubt that the other tracks on her album will sound any different. I have nothing against the woman, but she needs to forget about pursuing a music career. She simply does []

UK NEWS: BUSTA RHYMES RELEASED!

After being detained by UK Immigration officials today for NO GOOD REASON, rapper Busta Rhymes has been released. Via The London Paper Busta Rhymes has been released after being barred from entering the UK today. His detention throwing plans for an anti-violence gig into chaos. Organisers of the gig were said to be considering Ludacris as his replacement. But Busta’s lawyer intervened and a High Court Judge agreed that the decision to detain was unlawful. The 36 year old MC was released immediately. The []

VIDEO OF THE DAY: DIPSET’S FORMER MANAGER (BIG JOE) PUTS HIS FORMER CLIENTS ON BLAST AND TALKS ABOUT THE UK INCIDENT…..

About a week and a half ago I posted the news that while on tour in London, rapper Juelz Santana had a run in with some “promoters”. Four years ago the “promoters” foolishly handed over 70k in cash to Dipset’s management at the time (Big Joe) and in return, Camron, Juelz and the rest of the crew were supposed to fly over to these shores to perform for their fans. This never happened. Juelz stated that he didn’t know anything about the 70k or the missed UK shows and steered the []

UK NEWS: MOBO (MUSIC OF BLACK ORIGIN) AWARDS 2008

Well folks here we are again! It’s MOBO awards time! Yey!!!!!!!! For those who don’t know about the MOBO Awards, it’s the UK’s answer to the BET Awards…..well… sort of…. As always I look forward to seeing which acts have been included in the now controversial Reggae category. Will the organisers go for the “safe” options and nominate Shaggy and Sean Paul this year, like they do EVERY YEAR!!! Peter Tatchell still got you shook Kanya??? (lol) And don’t even get me started on the foolishness that took last year when they nominated soul singer ANTHONY HAMILTON for a reggae award! []
