UK MUSIC: MC HARVEY DROPS FREESTYLE ON TIM WESTWOOD TV

Former So Solid star MC Harvey paid the “Big Dawd” Tim Westwood a visit recently and dropped a freestyle in the studio. But the freestyle has now prompted fellow blogger Brown Eyez to ask the question – Petition – Should Harvey Stop MCing?” Should Harvey stop rapping and seek modelling work instead? Visit Brown Eyez’s blog to cast your vote. I have to agree with Brown Eyez,  his flow does sound quite dated. Very late 90s/early noughties.  But perhaps that was done intentionally.

REGGAE LEGEND GREGORY ISAACS DIES

Reggae legend Gregory Isaacs sadly passed away early this morning (October 25th), at the age of 59.  The Jamaican singer had apparently been ill for sometime. Gregory’s hits included Night Nurse, Tune In, My Number One, Love Overdue, Rumours and The Border. Rest In Peace Gregory Isaacs.

UK TV: CHERYL COLE APPEARS ON PIERS MORGAN’S LIFE STORIES

Last night (against my better judgement) I watched the “‘nation’s sweetheart” / fraud Cheryl Cole pour her heart out to Piers Morgan. I’ve always respected Piers Morgan but he let himself down last night. It was made clear from the offset that Piers thinks the sun shines out of Cheryl’s backside,  so this interview was just set up to help preserve Saint Cheryl’s reputation post Gamugate. Plus she’s about to release a new single. Cheryl bawled while discussing her harrowing battle with []

KANYE WEST – RUNAWAY (30 MINUTE FILM SHORT)

Industry folk raved about Kanye West’s Runaway film short, after it premiered at a private screening (with Kanye in attendance) in London last month. Runaway is now available to watch in its entirety online. It opens with rapper Nicki Minaj  butchering the English accent. She needs to be muzzled.  Then a woman falls from the sky dressed as a bird and Kanye rescues her. Then it just goes on and on and on…. In my opinion Runaway is exactly what you would []

NEW ARTIST: LEE

Meet US singer, rapper, poet, bandleader and songwriter Lee, who is already being hailed as one of the most original artists on the current musical scene. Lee is originally from Miami, where he co-founded and fronted the popular, award-winning alternative Hip-Hop band The Square Egg. Today he performs with his own band and has created his own distinctive sound, which is an eclectic mix of Hip-Hop, R&B, Funk, with jazz soloists,  with elements of rock, classical music and spoken word. VIDEO: BARACKA FLACKA FLAME – ‘HEAD OF STATE’

This President Barack Obama parody has killed me tonight. I tried my hardest not to laugh, but the comedian playing the Pres and the actresses drafted in to play Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey are just too much. This is so wrong! WARNING: IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED THEN PLEASE DO NOT CLICK ON PLAY. *EXTREME PROFANITY*

VIDEO: THA VILL FT KELE LE ROC – MORE THAN FRIENDS

Up until this point I had never heard of Tha Vill but he is apparently famous in the US for his nu-tek production style, and has now teamed up with UK songstress Kele Le Roc on the dance track More Than Friends The video was directed by actress Shannon Elizabeth who starred in Scary Movie and American Pie. [Original] [Remix] I have posted the original version and the remixed version – I prefer the remix. Your thoughts please. Hit or Miss?

MOBO AWARDS 2010 – GIGGS CHATS TO 1XTRA’S MAX

UK rapper Giggs was interviewed before his surprise appearance on stage at the MOBO Awards (Music Of Black Origin) on Thursday night. At the beginning of this footage it says ‘Giggs chats to Max’,  but it should actually say ‘Max chats to Giggs’, because she’s the one doing most of the chatting. I’ve come to the conclusion that Giggs is shy and a nervous wreck when being interviewed, which explains the one/two word answers.   I think his label should fly him over to the States and send []

MOBO AWARDS 2010 – TINCHY STRYDER, PROF GREEN, GIGGS, DEVLIN & TINIE TEMPAH – GAME OVER

Most of you will know by now that I don’t have much time for rap/grime acts from these shores (bar a few) but this performance (believe it or not) was the only highlight (for soooooooo  many reasons ha ha) of an other wise uneventful and painful evening. I would like to hear Jay-Z, Eminem, Fabolous and Kanye rapping over this beat. Anyway your thoughts on the performance please. Hit or Miss?
