Nike released the pretty impressive Write The Future commercial, promoting the World Cup just before it kicked off in South Africa on June 11th. Singer Alicia Keys and producer/fiance Swizz Beatz had their unborn child blessed in a Zulu ceremony while in South Africa for the World Cup. Via The Guardian TV/radio personality Chris Evans has apologised for posting a joke about poverty in Africa and the World Cup on Twitter. Nelson Mandela’s great-granddaughter Zenani Mandela was killed in a car crash yesterday. The 13 year old was on the way home from the World Cup kick off concert when the accident happened. Johannesburg Metro police spokeswoman Edna Mamonyane disclosed that the driver of the car had been arrested and charged with drunk driving. Via BBC News England captain Rio Ferdinand has been ruled out of the World Cup after suffering a knee injury in training. The 31-year-old centre-back had a scan after hurting his left knee following a challenge with Emile Heskey during Friday’s first training session.
