UK MUSIC: CHIPMUNK – FLYING HIGH

Rapper Chipmunk has been raving about his new single Flying High for the past week now.  So does it lived up to the hype? Well like with most mainstream UK “urban” music these days… no not really. But to be fair the production isn’t bad. The video – another UK emcee going out of his way to honour Jay-Z by mimicking his mannerisms and choice of clothing.  Then we have the African theme running through the video which doesn’t connect to the track. VIDEO: DIDDY DIRTY MONEY FT SKEPTA (REMIX) HELLO GOOD MORNING

Well it’s finally here folks – The Diddy, Dirty Money, Skepta video. When the remix track hit the Internet earlier this year (featuring the UK’s Skepta), feelings were ‘hurt’ this side of the Atlantic because US websites (namely Worldstar)/blogs failed to acknowledge it. But we now have a video to support the track so it may peak their interest this time. By the way I like this remix. I have to applaud Skepta he did a good job. The video – Hahahahahahahaha and hahahahahahahaha at Chipmunk. Your thoughts []

UK MUSIC: TINCHY STRYDER, DELVIN, GIGGS, TINIE TEMPAH, PROF GREEN, CHIPMUNK AND EXAMPLE – GAME OVER

Tinchy Stryder’s video for Game Over is here folks, featuring the artists listed above. The track – The 13-21 year old demographic will love it. The video – I can see what the director was trying to do here but it just becomes boring after a while. The problem is there is a lack of charisma here and they fail to command the viewer’s attention. American rappers (even the least talented ones) have always excelled at holding the audience’s attention visually via []

UK MUSIC: CHIPMUNK – SUPERSTAR

Rapper Chipmunk tells us he wants to be a “superstar” in his latest single.  He wants the money, the fame blah blah blah, but “doesn’t want the stress”. Yeah good luck with that Chippy. When I look at Chipmunk and read his posts via Twitter, I can just tell it’s all gone to his head. The guy has one of the biggest ego’s out there. Yes as a rapper you’re supposed to have a certain air of confidence and swagger, but there []

UK MUSIC NEWS: POP SINGER DAISY DARES YOU DENIES DISLIKING GRIME MUSIC

Several weeks ago I posted the news that 16 year old Pop singer Daisy Dares You had admitted to not being a fan of Grime music. Click here to read if you missed it.   I originally spotted the story over at Digital Spy, and it caught my attention because young Daisy here had “allegedly” told BBC Newsbeat that she wasn’t a fan of the genre, but still collaborated with Chipmunk (who was once considered Grime… I’m not sure if he still is now) on her debut single Number One Enemy.   It  sounded as if she/the label had just used Chippy to guarantee a []

UK MUSIC NEWS: POP SINGER SAYS SHE’S “NOT A FAN OF GRIME”

This made me laugh out loud today! Via Digital Spy Daisy Dares You has admitted that she is not a fan of grime music, despite teaming up with Chipmunk on her debut single Number One Enemy. The 16-year-old, real name Daisy Coburn, claimed that the collaboration would benefit from Chipmunk’s popularity. “It’s good for the song because it’s given it an instant. People know who Chipmunk is,” she told BBC Newsbeat. “It’s [grime-pop], not my bag really. That’s not my kind of music []

UK MUSIC NEWS: WILEY SAYS CHIPMUNK AND TINCHY STRYDER HAVE SOLD OUT

Check it out! Some hot UK “beef” to take us in to the new year….. Via Digital Spy Grime star Wiley has claimed that fellow artists including Tinchy Stryder and Chipmunk have abandoned their roots. The rapper, who reached number two with single ‘Wearing My Rolex’ last year, claimed that underground movements in other genres have been more commercially successful without selling out. “If we’d all stayed together we could have seen a bit more power,” he told the Daily Star. “Hip-hop and drum []

UK MUSIC NEWS: RAPPER CHIPMUNK SCRAPS PROMO AFTER ‘SUICIDE THREAT’ VIA TWITTER

I follow Chipmunk on Twitter and read his ‘suicidal’ tweets. I didn’t think he was being serious. I thought  he was being overly dramatic for the sake of it. Artists will say/do anything these days to generate publicity for themselves. But I guess in his case I was wrong … Via Digital Spy Chipmunk has cancelled all upcoming promotional appearances after “working too hard”. The 18-year-old, who topped the singles chart last month with Oopsy Daisy, posted a message on Twitter claiming that he wanted to kill himself. “I []
