Former Deputy Mayor Ray Lewis London’s deputy mayor has resigned two months into his post amid claims of financial irregularities. Ray Lewis faced allegations relating to his time as a vicar in east London in the late 1990s and head of a youth academy scheme in 2003. He was placed under Church of England disciplinary measures in 1999. London Mayor Boris Johnson said he was sad at the resignation – but insisted he would re-appoint Mr Lewis if he cleared his name. UK NEWS: WOMAN STABBED TO DEATH

A woman has died after being stabbed in a late night incident. Dee Willis, 28, received a wound to her upper body during the attack at around 11pm on Tuesday in Bellenden Road, close to Peckham High Street in south east London. Ms Willis was taken to Kings College Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after midnight. Neighbours said that Ms Willis recently miscarried twins. Murdered: 16 year old Ben Kinsella  Two youths arrested over the murder of Ben Kinsella, who was stabbed to death in a London street, have been released on police bail. Ben, 16, was attacked during a row with youths in York Way, Holloway, north London, at about 0200 BST on Sunday. The youngster, the 17th teenager killed in London this year, died in hospital a few hours later. His sister, Brooke Kinsella, who played Kelly Taylor in the BBC One soap EastEnders, said []

Armel Gnango sentenced today Victim: Magda Pniewska A man has been jailed for at least 20 years for the murder of a woman caught in a “Wild West” style shoot-out. Singer Amy Winehouse has “traces” of the lung disease emphysema but is “responding brilliantly to treatment”, her father has said. Murderers/pair of low life losers: Mohammed Noor and Abdi Sannoh Two men have been sentenced to life imprisonment at the Old Bailey for murdering a 15-year-old boy as he slept at his south-east London home. Mohammed Sannoh, 19, from Peckham, and Abdi Omar Noor, 22, from Camberwell, burst into Michael Dosunmu’s room in Peckham and shot him in February 2007.
