UK NEWS: LIVERPOOL INVOLVED IN NEW “RACE ROW” AFTER PLAYER TOM ADEYEMI IS ALLEGEDLY RACIALLY ABUSED DURING MATCH BY FAN

Oh dear!

Another year,  another football race row and another WAKE UP CALL.

Liverpool football club has issued a statement in response to last night’s Liverpool verses Oldham game where it is claimed that Oldham defender Tom Adeyemi was racially abused by a Liverpool fan.

In the statement they said,

“Liverpool Football Club continue to work closely with Merseyside Police to establish all the facts surrounding the incident that occurred during last night’s game.

“We take this matter extremely seriously and have today provided the police with the evidence we currently have available to us.

“This includes CCTV coverage and still photography of what we believe to be the relevant part of the stadium, statements from match day stewards in that area and full access to all the footage captured by the cameras filming the match for our in-house TV operation.

“In addition, we have examined records of the tickets purchased in that part of the ground to see if they provide any additional information and have passed that on to the police.

“Finally, we would also urge any of our supporters who witnessed this incident or saw the individual involved and who have not already done so, to contact either the club or the police.”

20 year old Adeyemi  on loan from Norwich City was left in tears after a Liverpool fan allegedly called him a “f**king black bastard”.

I feel sorry for Tom Adeyemi. He is very young, has probably never experienced that level of abuse before and probably believed that racism no longer existed in this country. It was obviously a shock to the system.

But imagine if he had been playing football in the 1970s and 1980s. Having to endure the constant racial abuse coming from the terraces (an entire terrace chanting the word “nigger”/making monkey noises) and banana skins being thrown on to the pitch. Adeyemi would have probably ended up having a nervous breakdown and retiring at the ripe old age of twenty.

UPDATE:  ITV News reports that a man has been held on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence.

  1. I hope he gets some counselling or something. These black players need to stick together and get support from each other . It doesn’t matter how good you are, or how much money you are raking in for the white man, you must never forget your colour. In Britain, you can’t afford to do that most of the time.

And you are right, i think it’s the first time he has experienced racism. He needs to speak to those old players.

  2. wow he must be one of thoe guys who his whole life thought racism never existed and thought he was white lol what a way to be brought down to earth

  3. I think this is shameful…but not surprised. This will happen again and again… And the more it happens it will force other Black people to speak up about it. Well at least i hope it does.. Never know because some Black people have their heads so far up the white mans azz…that they can’t see straight. This kind of thing is not going away so we better face what is to come. And i agree other Black player need to stick together. But will they hmmmm not to sure. But there is always wishful thinking.

I guess for me it is so hard for me to believe that he has never experienced racism!!! Now that is a shocker! I don’t know a Black person alive who have not experienced racism. Wow if life is that blissful over there…maybe i should move there.lol!

But you know what i’m actually happy this happen to him. Only because he is so young and now maybe he can build up a defense against this kind of behavior. And recognize this when he sees it. And maybe stop thinking that the white man is on his side and consider him as an equal. Peace to this young brother

He is half Oyibo and he has an Oyibo girlfriend. Trust me he will negociate with them until the end of times. Its not his fault really, he has got to have experience some racism before. But we can’t count on them to confront it when endorsments have more value than dignity.Rio Ferdinand to rescue lol!

  5. @lechatnoir…yep you’re right…endorsments! Man will we always sell out for money?? Most will…SHM!
