It has been announced today that singer and Strictly Come Dancing judge Alesha Dixon has left the show
Alesha won the fifth series in 2007 and later joined as a judge in 2009 replacing popular judge and choreographer Arlene Phillips.
In response to Alesha quitting the show a BBC spokesperson said “We wish her all the best”.
Alesha also fronts a Weight Watchers new TV ad campaign. This makes me laugh because she has NEVER been over weight or to my knowledge had issues with her weight. I thought Weight Watchers only hired famous faces to front campaigns who have had weight issues but have worked hard and lost a significant amount thanks to their programme.
It just seems like the UK marketing team wanted a woman of colour to front the campaign (Jennifer Hudson fronts the US campaign) and Alesha was the only high-profile woman of colour considered “suitable” enough to front the UK campaign. Hahaha.
Anyway I like Alesha and wish her the best of luck with her future endeavours.
