About 300 protesters held a candlelit protest outside a Glasgow theatre over the staging of a play which portrays Jesus as a transsexual.
The protest was held outside the Tron Theatre, where Jesus Queen of Heaven, in which Christ is a man who wants to become a woman, is being staged.
It is part of the Glasgay! arts festival, a celebration of Scotland’s gay, bi-sexual and transsexual culture.

Oh please! Who do they think they are kidding? The whole point of this play is to spark controversy and generate media attention, which has worked.
They can all pat themselves on the back now! Congratulations your little play made it on to the BBC News website!
This country goes out of its way to not offend other religions. But when it involves Christianity it’s perfectly acceptable to mock/disrespect the religion and it’s followers!

From what I’ve read I don;t agree with you about the intention of sparking controversy per se, at least not on the part of the writer. This is autobiographical.
I’m fairly sure that the immoderate response of the protestors is nothing other than unhelpful.

smh, I think u hit the nail on the head Janice, the writer my not of intended to offend, but surely must of known that this play would be offensive, but I suppose thats ok, it’s only offensive to Christians! KMT… but if it was offensive to Muslims, well that would a whole next thing wouldn’t it… this country is full of double standards!
I see myself as a transsexual (although I have not yet undergone a sex-change operation). As a French transsexual, I think that transsexuals (and lesbians and gays alike) want – and need – to appropriate (take over) religion. The majority of heterosexual (straight) people think that we are mentally ill people, that we should be treated by psychologists and that we should be denied any kind of religious teaching and support. We, the transsexuals, no longer see ourselves as deranged and mentally ill people. We, the transsexuals, are as decent as the heterosexuals (straight people). If we see Jesus as a transsexual sufferer, why not ??? Jesus would have never rejected transsexuals, as the majority of heterosexuals do on a daily basis: at work, in the street, in shops and in supermarkets. Jesus would have never discriminated against transsexuals, like (as) the ‘intolerant’ heterosexuals do on a daily basis. Enough is enough! Jesus also belongs to us, the transsexuals. Jesus suffered and died for us. The transsexuals suffer on a daily basis, discriminated against, persecuted, burned alive and killed by the so-called ‘decent’ heterosexuals who are actually very intolerant!
Why are people upset? Christ stated that all kinds of reprobate characters would come in his name and defame it for their own benefits. This latest piece is just an example showing that Christ was indeed correct. This isn’t the worst though, that is yet to come.
