UK Hip Hop

JUMP OFF UK (DEBATE) HAS UK HIP HOP LOST IT’S BRITISH IDENTITY?

Why has there been a decline in Grime and is UK Hip Hop becoming too similar to the US? – Does the UK have its own identity in Hip Hop? – Is British music becoming more Americanised?  – Is Grime now a form of Hip Hop? – Has the UK turned its back on Grime? – Is it acceptable for artists to make music with a fake accent? …. I think that there has been a decline in Grime music because it’s []

UK MUSIC NEWS: GIGGS – FROM RAPPER TO CLOTHING DESIGNER

UK rapper and Peckham resident Giggs is turning in to a right little entrepreneur. Giggs has now entered into the world of fashion and has ‘created’ his own clothing line SN1 Wear. Check out the stunning photographs and video footage below… Via Ragggs.com The House of Sean John must be quaking in their boots right now. There’s nothing particularly special about the menswear. It’s okay. But the womens wear looks dated and tacky. Women were wearing those types of dresses back in the early nineties. We are now in 2010. Who []

UK HIP HOP FLASH BACK: LONDON POSSE – ‘HOW’S LIFE IN LONDON’ (CIRCA 1992)

MUSIC: STYLES P FT GIGGS – ‘ALL I KNOW IS PAIN’

Rapper Styles P teams up with UK rapper Giggs on this track, although it’s clear that his isn’t an official collaboration…… Anyway I really like ‘All I Know Is Pain’. It’s dark and moody, just how I’ve always liked my Hip Hop/Rap to sound, and I am a  Styles P fan. Your thoughts please…..

UK MUSIC: BASHY – ‘I SEE PEOPLE’

I’m not really feeling this. Bashy’s lyrical content here is conscious and thought provoking, but the messy production and the speeded up background vocals (soooo 2004) that you hear throughout only serve as a distraction. Bashy’s new album Bashy.com is out in stores now. Your thoughts please…….
