UK Rapper Sway Dasafo went from being a successful independent artist to moving up in the world and signing to Akon’s label Konvict Music. But since signing to Konvict, Sway’s music/image seems to have gone down a different route. Pre-Konvict Post-Konvict I guess Akon’s attempts to turn him in to the UK’s “Mr Lover Man” bothered Sway judging from this message he posted on his Twitter page today..  after careful consideration and observation of the current UK music industry, I’ve decided, to return to the old me. UK artist Pound Sterling reminds me of 50 Cent (circa 2003 image) and this video /track is just the UK version of Fiddy’s ‘I Get Money’. Hmmmm.. the production isn’t bad. Do you know what? Pound Sterling, the track, the tired video concept, the whole ‘let’s pretend I’m a rich American rapper’ vibe, and the Pound Sterling sign tatooed on his left peck, I find it all highly amusing! ITV 2  premiered Alexandra Burke’s new video Bad Boys and it’s just what I expected… Speakz over at Pinboard Blog also reports that Alexandra’s X-Factor mentor, Girls Aloud star and now the “nations sweetheart” Cheryl Cole has also released her new solo track Fight For This Love and video (which premiered on ITV 1). UK NEWS: RAPPER SPEECH DEBELLE WINS MERCURY MUSIC PRIZE

This news surprised me. I didn’t think she would win. Via BBC News Rapper Speech Debelle is the surprise winner of the Mercury Prize for the best British album of the past year. Her debut Speech Therapy, released last month, has not appeared in the UK album chart but sales will get a huge boost from her win. The track and the ‘dance’ has been a huge underground success and now we finally have a video to accompany the track, complete with UK A-lister guest cameos.
