The founder/CEO of seminal Hip Hop label Sugar Hill Records has died of congestive heart failure. Sylvia Robinson founded the label in the 1970s and formed the group The Sugarhill Gang who later went on to release the first commercially successful Hip Hop single Rappers Delight in 1979. She also was the visionary and guiding force behind Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five’s most successful single The Message. Sylvia was 75 years old. ______ ______ Rest In Peace Sylvia Robinson.

Via The Daily Mail A Premier League footballer was suspended from his club today after he was arrested over an alleged sex attack on a woman in the back of a taxi. Titus Bramble, 30, was held by officers in the early hours after the cab driver became concerned by the player’s behaviour towards his fellow passenger. Organisers of the prestigious annual Mobo Awards are being urged by media and entertainment union BECTU to pay all staff working on this year’s event which is being staged at the SECC in Glasgow next Wednesday 5 October. The Mirror reports that the body of a young woman has been found at the home of former Hollyoaks star Phina Oruche. Paramedics were called to the 39-year-old actress’ address in Aigburth, Liverpool, after they received a 999 call reporting that a young woman was ‘not moving’. The woman, who has not been formally identified, was pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor.
