VH1 DIVAS SPECIAL (2003) -WHITNEY HOUSTON AND BOBBY BROWN’S LIVE PERFORMANCE (THE NIGHT WHITNEY’S VOICE GAVE UP AND DIED)

I remember watching the 2003 ‘VH1 Divas’, and shaking my head in disbelief. Whitney Houston performed with her now ex-husband Bobby Brown and sounded absolutely atrocious. Here was proof that her once beautiful/powerful voice had been shot to pieces thanks to excessive drug and alcohol abuse. But I was in denial. I refused to believe that Whitney had lost it. I kept saying, ‘no that isn’t Whitney Houston. That isn’t the woman I grew up listening to and admiring. That woman up []

INAUGURATION LIVE PERFORMANCE: SHERYL CROW, WILL.I.AM AND HERBIE HANCOCK BUTCHER ‘ONE LOVE’

I missed this live performance at last weeks historical inauguration event so thanks Nessa for bringing it to my attention. Herbie, Will.i.am (another one who gets under my skin) and Sheryl decided to perform the Bob Marley classic ‘One Love’ and BUTCHERED the track. I know that Herbie is a musical legend but what the HELL was he playing at the start???? The man was playing the wrong keys! Sheryl can sing but she really shouldn’t try to attempt to sing this particular song ever again. I am not even going to []

VIDEO OF THE DAY: THE JAPANESE JUST LOVE THAT REGGAE DANCEHALL

In Japan, Jamaican Reggae/Dancehall music is HUGE!!!! And if you don’t believe me then just watch this. The footage below was filmed at an event that took place last year, in Osaka Japan. I remember back in the 90s when it was thought that if  the Reggae art form wanted to achieve international success/popularity (Like Rap/Hip Hop has) then it’s artists had to make the move to America and then sign to  major labels. Label executives (who knew nothing about the genre/culture) would then team up reggae artists with Hip Hop/R&B acts and attempt to water down []

XXL MAGAZINE FRONT COVER (MARCH ISSUE)

How could the staff over at XXL Magazine send this issue to press with that front cover??? Look at my Jim Jim. He looks mash up! Just awful!!!! He looks like a tramp! There is no doubt in my mind that Jim turned up for the shoot looking gorgeous and pristine, but the haters didn’t want my baby to shine so after the shoot they used photoshop to distort his features.   I think I need to lie down……

VIDEO OF THE DAY: WWE RAW

I used to be a huge wrestling fan, but I stopped watching it in the mid 90s. However there seems to have been a lot of changes since I last tuned in…. When I first saw this clip on one of my favourite show’s ‘The Soup’ (I love you Joe McHale), I could not stop laughing. When did wrestling become so homoerotic???? LOL!!! SMH!!! Disturbing….. Your thoughts please….

UK MUSIC: CRAZY COUNSINZ FT CALISTA – ‘BONGO JAM’

[Thanks T] First off – What the HELL???? LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And surprise surprise not one black model in sight. Oh dear… excluded once again! When will the UK’s black music “industry” (and I use that term loosely) give the black woman a break??? America elects its first black President and the UK black music scene still refuses to feature sistahs in music videos. I mean when will the discrimination end??? Your thoughts please….
