Black London’s Film Heritage has embarked on a search for material about Black London life from pre/post war years to the mid-1990’s for a programme that will be launched in March 2011. The project is inviting submissions from any London Borough archive, film and community organisations or individuals holding film material which depicts an African-Caribbean presence in London. The Metro reports that Jermain Defoe’s mother plans to build a nightclub in the basement of a plush Essex mansion. According to the newspaper the millionaire footballer’s mother Sandra St Helen also plans on including a cards room, an underground swimming pool and giant hot tub. Wheelchair user and cerebral palsy sufferer Jody McIntryre was dragged from his wheelchair by police on two separate occasions at the anti-tuition fees protest on the 9 December 2010 in London. BBC presenter Ben Brown interviewed Jody yesterday (13 December) and should be ashamed of himself. The man is a disgrace! Watch below to see why.

Idris Elba has received a Best Actor Golden Globe nomination for his role in the hit BBC crime drama Luther. In response to the news the actor told USA Today, “I’m flabbergasted and in shock. But at least I’m on set and I can channel that emotion back into my work.” Congratulations Idris.

I only found out about this incident yesterday so please forgive the lateness of this post. Via The Mirror PIZZA Hut was accused of racism last week after asking a group of black professional footballers to pay in advance for their meals. The demand was made as a table of white youngsters seated nearby were allowed to settle up after eating.
