UK TV: CBEEBIES – RASTAMOUSE

The BBC has turned children’s book series Rastamouse in to a cartoon series. Rastamouse is a children’s book series, written by Genevieve Webster (an author and illustrator) and Michael De Souza (a Rastafarian swimming instructor). Rastamouse books are written in rhyme with a Jamaican accent. Rastamouse is the main character. Other characters that play a big part in the books are Scratchy and Zoomer. UK NEWS: REMEMBERING THE NEW CROSS FIRE 30 YEARS ON

“The New Cross Fire killed 13 young black people during a birthday party in a house in New Cross, Southeast London on Sunday January 18th, 1981 The party was a joint birthday celebration for Yvonne Ruddock and Angela Jackson and was held at 439 New Cross Road, going on throughout the night. There was a fairly high degree of racial tension in New Cross, as it was well known that the far right group the National Front were active in the area. []

THROW BACK (UNCOMFORTABLE) INTERVIEW OF THE DAY – TIM WESTWOOD INTERVIEWS CRAIG DAVID AND DJ SPOONY

I have always found BBC Radio personality / Hip Hop DJ Tim “Big Dawg” Westwood funny, while others have accused him of being just damn right rude at times.  But after watching this throwback interview from late 2008 where Westwood interviewed singer Craig David and fellow radio personality DJ Spoony, I now see exactly what they mean. There seemed to be a lot of animosity in the air. Craig looks visibly uncomfortable, Spoony is trying his hardest to remain professional, and when Westwood drags Reggae DJ Chris Goldfinger in to the mix []
