Earlier this year former footballer and anti-racism campaigner Paul Elliott (48) dramatically resigned from all of his positions within the Football Association after it was revealed he called ex-Charlton player and former friend Richard Rufus a “nigger” during an argument over a failed business venture. Click here to read all about it.
According to reports Elliott later insisted that the term was not offensive because both men involved are black.
Today it was reported that Rufus has now issued High Court proceedings against Elliott. Why? Because after Elliott announced he was stepping down from his various positions he then said in a public statement:
‘A former friend and business colleague made public an SMS text message I sent him in which I used a term which is widely known as being derogatory to my own community.
Rufus is claiming £150,000 in aggravated damages for the harm done to his reputation through widespread media reports that he had made public the offensive ‘Ur a stupid nigger, You dog Ur history’ text.
Rufus denies he showed the text to anyone other than his legal representatives.
…
I don’t know whether to laugh or cry… or do both.
If Richard speaks the truth and did not leak the text to the press then perhaps he should look closer to home or take a closer look at his legal team, and then issue High Court proceedings against them.
I would really like to know how this on going saga has ‘harmed his reputation’. It can’t be in the toilet like Paul’s reputation.

just crazy
I think he libeled himself when he sold that story about Paul saying things to his wife. He is trying to and tried to make him out to be a non trustworthy person. He is very angry and for some reason other than this, he is trying to punish him good. Business Must have gone sour.
Oh, that was someone else. Hahaha
That was writer/presenter Dotun writing about an incident involving Paul. And his thoughts regarding the text etc.
