Greek police investigating the fatal stabbing of a 19-year-old British tourist on Crete have charged a man with the killing.
Myles Litchmore-Dunbar,19, has been charged with the murder of Tyrell Matthews-Burton as well as possession of a weapon.
Police attributed the murder to gang violence between rival groups in Britain. As 19 other Britons arrested in connection with the crime appeared before a public prosecutor on Wednesday, police said they had begun to assemble a picture of two gangs “bent on destroying one another”.
“They had scores to settle long before they arrived here,” said a police officer, Yannis Phillipakis, in Heraklion, the island’s capital. “Unofficially, what we are hearing is that they brought their gang warfare to Crete.”
The murder on Tuesday of Matthews-Burton, a shop assistant, in the island resort of Malia sent shockwaves through Greece.
The young Londoner, described by neighbours as a “little gentleman”, was stabbed in the back and chest as a drunken row quickly turned into a brawl with other British holidaymakers. My heart goes out to Tyrell’s family.
I am just angry and disgusted right now. How low of a human being can you be to commit such wickedness? I cannot believe that the animals responsible for Tyrell’s brutal and senseless murder went on holiday armed and hungry to leave nothing but carnage in their wake.
Can someone please explain this insanity to me?
I hope the guilty individual/s go down for this and spend the majority of their miserable days suffering in a prison cell in Greece.

Was it a gang related stabbing? So now gangs go on holiday together?
This just pissed me off, this is why black rappers in the UK can’t perform at venues, why are you gonna take a beef on holiday with you, this kind of madness has been going on since black people start going to Napa, white people get in fights with the worse being someone getting bottled but we’ve got to take it too far. SMH.
Just to note – I know Tyrell’s family very well. HE wasn’t involved in any gang nonsense, so it’s really angering me that the ‘media’ as usual are trying to make it seem like he was affiliated with the thugs who murdered him. He was pretty much caught in the cross-fire.

On a serious note, are young people now ok to take so easily the life of another human being and is anyone still scared of spending life in jail?

Who is feeding this police officer this nonsense?
Everytime they mention black people, they always have to make it look like it’s gangs, to be honest when you hear the actual story it does sound like he was caught in the crossfire of a big brawl, which could happen to anyone @Nubiahbella British people abroad always get a bad rep no matter what race, but when it’s black people it’s even worse.
What I really don’t understand is, this was a guy who worked to get into university, it’s no like he’s a street kid with no opportunities which still isn’t an excuse, why are you even walking around with a knife in the first place SMH.
I don’t know what’s worse it being a gang or the fight being about football. Now we have lost two black youths to dumbness.
Hurt.shocked horrified words cant express my thoughts over this.. I’m a mother ,what Tyrells family must be going through. I’m thinking did these young men travel with these weapons.. how does that happen???can any parent ever say 100% that their child has no links to any ”gang nonsense ”ever. Gang and street culture has become so prevalent and accessible to all through social media,schools ,music and sport.
Surely there’s something wrong in society when a person feels the need to pack a knife as well as the usual items for a holiday. Again something is indeed wrong where the bigger compulsion is to film and save footage re the misfortune or the last dying breaths of another for posting on a social media site later,rather than offer any immediate help or comfort,. The pictures show anger and ambivalence on the faces of the young men allegedly involved,where is their sense of sorrow and or shame re at the loss of a life.
At what point did having a job and an education prevent wickedness?don’t be fooled by societal stereotypes ,our prisons and young offender institutions are homes to aspirational and educated people too,who in a moment of madness lost everything. we must do more to re-engage our young in the very basics i.e the value and respect for life.
How did we allow mass media to become the nanny to so many of our children, instilling in them ,the need to live fast and furious with little regard for the well being of themselves or others. Thug mentality seems to me to be the driving force in many of our communities ,the use of mindless brutal violence being touted as the way to vent anger and show dissatisfaction. We where the future ,what do we give our children to work with ,what legacy do we leave them.May Tyrell RIP

Tyrelle lost his life myles is potentially about to lose his. This is more then sad it’s heartbreaking but instead of the stupid government taking note that we have a serious problem on our hands as parents and young people of today they be running round throwing bogus stories in the mix… My deepest condolence to Tyrelle’s family and as for myles mother tell your son to either tell the “truth” or handle whateva punishment which comes his way. The media need to start reporting facts and leaving their stupid opinions/hearsay out
