TV drama Top Boy which aired on Channel 4 in October has been nominated for a BAFTA television award. The drama written by Ronan Bennett is up for Best Mini Series. Top Boy is set on the fictional Summerhouse housing estate in Hackney, East London, and follows the life of 13-year-old Ra’Nell, (Malcolm Kamulete) who is left to fend for himself after his single mother is sectioned under the Mental Health Act. Oh dear…more drama within the mad sad bad world of UK entertainment, involving actors and former friends/colleagues Noel Clarke and Adam Deacon. This past weekend the BBC aired the hit UK film Kidulthood which stars and was written by Noel Clarke. Brian McKnight is a mature and well-respected R&B singer, so I don’t quite understand why he has decided to go down this ridiculous road. All I can do is laugh and shake my head at this foolishness…. According to the The Hollywood Reporter gay pornography was accidentally broadcast during a Canadian morning newscast. A Hamilton, Ontario-based TV station CHCH Television apologized Friday to shocked viewers after its local morning newscast was interrupted by roughly three minutes of hardcore gay pornography. A red-faced CHCH news director Mike Katrycz said the offending porn originated at a local cable company, which inadvertently inserted the wrong programming after repairing some cut cable lines. “In the splicing together, unfortunately, some inappropriate content went to air”.
