Several days ago rapper/mogul Curtis Jackson aka 50 Cent tweeted to his millions of followers that he had inked a deal with drinks giant Pepsi that would distribute his energy drink Street King nationally. He added that every time his drink is purchased, a meal would be provided for a hungry child with a donation to the United Nations World Food Program. The aim is to feed 1 billion children worldwide via the initiative.
However Pepsi know nothing of this “deal”.
A PepsiCo spokesperson said,
I can definitely state, that 50 Cent does not have any deal whatsoever with regards to his new energy drink with either PepsiCo or Pepsi Beverages Company. He might very well have a deal with Honickman but we cannot comment on that situation because we don’t have any knowledge with regards to it. But as far as our company is concerned, the statements that are being reported are completely false!”
This is just embarrassing. What is wrong with Curtis aka Fiddy? What is going on here? Why lie?
Do our friends over at United Nations headquarters know about this initiative?
Does anyone really believe that every time a bottle of his new energy drink is purchased a hungry child somewhere in the developing world will be presented with a plate of food?
Realistically will this initiative make a difference and succeed in feeding 1 billion children?
