Well this didn’t take long!
The Editor-In-Chief of Dutch magazine Jackie has resigned over the controversial article which referred to the singer Rihanna as being the “Ultimate Niggabitch”.
Eva Hoeke initially issued an “apology” but due to the intense backlash she has now released the following statement announcing her resignation.
“I realize that my first reaction through Twitter, in which I indicated that it was a joke, has been an incomplete description of what me, and also the author of the article, meant. The term ‘niggabitch’ came from America and we solely used it to describe a style of dress. Because of the enormous pressure through social media I was tempted to promise amendment regarding the language in future issues of Jackie. Apart from that I also offered a rectification. I have now come to the conclusion that rectification is not the right solution. I regret that I have taken a stand too quickly regarding an article in Jackie — which moreover had no racial motive at its basis. Through the course of events, me and the publisher have concluded that because my credibility is now affected, it is better for all parties if I quit my function as editor-in-chief effective immediately. After putting my heart and soul into Jackie for eight years, I realize that these errors – although not intended maliciously – are enough reason for leaving.
“The term ‘niggabitch’ came from America and we solely used it to describe a style of dress.”
See what you started America! Hahahahahaha.
NiggaBitch: “A style of dress” – I can’t…
Anyway good luck with the job hunting Eva.
I just hope that silly little fool Rihanna has learnt something from this incident and thinks twice before constantly referring to herself and others as “bitches” and “niggas” on Twitter .

i dont think the editor should retire over this!!!.. no way!!
That lady should not lose her job over this matter. Rihanna herself has used those two ‘words’ joking about with her friends on twitter. It’s not fair that she’s crucified over a word that black people call each other everyday. Rihanna you should beg that magazine to give that woman her job back, please have mercy, ok.
…i wouldnt go that far.
The editor was in the wrong to use the term but it is not the use of the word that disturbs me but her mentality and that she thought it was a perfectly acceptable form of narrative. Whether that is down to singers and rappers using the term as a form of affection to one another or whether Ms Hoeke is totally out of touch, I don’t know. But what I do know is that these instances are getting far too frequent and it cannot be a coincidence. Is Rihanna justified in being angry at being referred to in this way despite the fact that she uses the word on regular basis?
She has to resign, she’s in charge of overseeing the content of the magazine before print, even if she didn’t directly write it, that’s what she’s paid to do. On a professional level, she didn’t do her job.
In regards to Rihanna using the word herself, this clearly demonstrates why we all need to stop disrespecting ourselves with such a nasty and vile word. We do it enough to ourselves, then we invite others to join in with the Tomfoolery behaviour (V Nasty, Krayshawn etc). I don’t see no other race on this planet allow themselves to be disrespected in this way, probably explains why articles like this can freely be written, as we don’t set no type of standard for ourselves. So for Rihanna to get vex and have the “Nigga” (her words not mine) come out of her, is very laughable. All she is doing is confirming what the article thinks and what the nasty racist man in Portugal thinks of her. Backward to say the least!
We need to do better!
I dont care who uses the word. As I said before. People know that not all black folk use the word and its use is mainly by some african-americans who rather be called black than african any day. Fact is that it is an offensive term even if she replaced the N word with Black it would still be offensive. It was to cause offense. she blames social media well she shuld have known that Rihanna’s stans dont play that ish.
Anyway some other publication will employ her and now she has some fame.
Americans need to do more than token gestures of burying this word he needs to be stopped phased out etc. I remember at school when younger in america and I used the word and my teacher gave me a talking to a history lesson in one. That word means you are worthless. Satan done fooled some folk. What’s in a word huh sticks and stones and all. I rather use words that come from a good place unless I need to throw hurt at somebody.
As an African-Caribbean woman I will not stand up for anyone using this word regardless of shade hue melanin content or lack thereof. simples
Good….I’m glad she is gone! And no one can’t tell me that she didn’t know what that meant. I don’t care if Rihanna calls herself that or not. I guess for me …if you start giving people passes… it will never stop. You don’t call jew a name and still work the next day. I want the same respect for my people as well. Even if some of you don’t!!!!!!!!!!!! You can’t call me a nigger bitch…if you’re white!!! And her trying to play like she is so naive…don’t work for me. Fire her azz!!!!!!!!!! .. Para fuera con eso! (get out of here with that) And stop blaming the rappers for what comes out of others mouth. I don’t even use these words and I’m Black… So don’t give me that… @terra I like a lot of what you said… But I do think whom ever wrote that article was disrespecting us by just writing it. She felt that she could get away with it.. Everyone knows how vile the word is….even her… so no excuses please…. peace out… @janice don’t blame the Americans.lol! haha!
Niggabitch…the new LBD.
