Several weeks ago YouTube footage of Emma West (34) racially abusing fellow passengers on a tram went viral and has now been watched by 11 million people. West was then later arrested .
The Guardian now reports that West has been remanded in custody during a court appearance and has been charged with a racially aggravated public order offence. She will appear by videolink for a committal hearing on January 3rd.
West’s supporters screamed out “TREASON” and cried “We love you, Emma. Be strong,” as she was led to the cells.

had it been a black person shouting racial abuse, her and her supporters would be demanding that the law be dealt with accordingly. no one is she cant say what she wants she just cannot be abusive.

most ignorant people (SoFrolushes is one excellent example) don’t even know what racism is. Its just a word that gets bandied about when the words ‘black’ and ‘white’ are mentioned in ‘incidents’. White people have no idea what its like to be on the receiving end of racial abuse – beacuse racial categoriazation was ‘created’ for the good of white people BY white people. Racism is PREJUDICE plus POWER (add in alot of small mindedness, bigotry and control) and you’re not far from accurate. if you don’t know your history and its social context, keep your (wrong) opinions to yourself and your mouth shut (oh, and try reading what you write BEFORE you post, cos it makes little sense!!!)
