  1. Last time i heard of this movie was when folks were complaining about South Africans not being hired for the lead roles. But i guess J Hud and Terence H, would sell the movie or make it crossover.

Ps, i love These two (Hudson and Terence), i think they are fabulous and super talented.

  2. Sorry but this is a major piss take. I can see why Winnie wasn’t happy about the film being made. What’s with the accent? and the bad prostethics on Jennifer Hudson? I’m so annoyed.

  3. Terence… what the hells that all about?
    Not impressed!
this soo didn’t need a hollywood/American cast, anyone interested in winnie would buy into it regardless in my opinion. Im sure Winnie was more concerned about true and informative portrayal than if its gonna be a successful hollywood box office blockbuster.

Im beginning to hate the word crossover (how its used in the industry) like where the dead nobody people that need to do something to enable the living to connect to its existence.

    ps @lati
not starting anything personal with you hunny, I just heard that word crossover one to many times 😉

  4. That is why i thought they did that and made that decision. But i agree, the movie would have sold and South Africa has very good actors and actresses, they do have talent. I like these two lead actors, i don’t know why they made the decisions, but i guess it comes down to the heads behind the film.

  5. I guess that’s why they chose Morgan Freeman for convictus. The same reasons. They’ve got to have someone to sell the movie to a wider audience.

  6. where did you get convictus from lol
your right lati creative decisions these days seen to be based on safe no risks quick money. super wrong choice here though imo, was the perfect opportunity to put S.A actors on the radar, couldn’t of been a better, would’ve done a far better job and cheaper to pay, leaving more money to spend on polishing things up better and gaining some Kudos from S.A and be an instant success and timeless hit to the Black South African citizens.

    ps.
Morgan Freeman does kind of look like Nelson though…

  7. I agree @ Real NV. When i watch African American movies about American racism and slavery and anything in that line, they seem to be so connected with the roles and always have so much passion and bring out the emotion so well when doing these roles, that one can get the idea, and i would think that if they got South Africans to play the roles for Mandela or Winnie they would have the best picture as they are on the inside and some have lived through it(you know what i mean). But like you said about the true informative and portrayal part should be priority, but i guess when it comes to such things some folks really don’t get it.

I like Terence Howard, he is really good, i like J Hud too. I’ll watch the movie and see what it fully brings.

its evident that WInnie and nelson mandela fought in the nation of south africa, but more so for a cause against oppression that people accross the world can get inspired by. that being said, I dont see any thing wrong to have an american actor playing the role of winnie mandela. so let not be too selfish, it should not be about african actors playing african movies and american playing their movies. I believe the only issue here whether those actors can deliver, if they are able to reproduce the struggle of winnie mandela accordingly….
