ITV could axe GMTV over its poor ratings after it today became the sole owner of the breakfast TV franchise.
The Coronation Street broadcaster already owns 75 per cent of the early morning TV show but has now bought the remaining stake from Disney for more than £22million.
Now that it has complete control it is expected ITV will scrap the brand and replace it with its own breakfast-style offering.
ITV executives have grown frustrated with GMTV’s poor ratings performance and the continued success of BBC.

It wouldn’t surprise me if they decided to axe the show. It has been going down hill for some time now and BBC Breakfast is a more informative show. It’s killing GMTV.
When regular visitor Ronke informed me this morning that a GMTV presenter was in the middle of interviewing a former Woolworths employee (who sat and talked about ‘life after Woolworths‘), I looked out in to the distance, shook my head and whispered ‘it’s a wrap GMTV. It’s a wrap!’

It;s true, GMTV has gone down the pan. I mean, how many times can you have NDubz perform in the early hours of the morning, it’s too much!

The whole celebrity trivia with not enough substantial news format that was lambasted on every media for a good while is on it’s last legs. That trashy Heat magazine shite can only work when money is about and people don’t have a care about what their governent and its society are doing.
As we start to penny pinch and foreee bleaker times, hearing abuot Jordans latest witterings is becoming less popular to the mainstream…GMTV..R.I.P
I bet they wished Richard and Judy were in the mix. Since they left GMTV/This Morning it has not been the same. They can start by getting a brunette. too much blonds on British TV being blonde lol they all look the same which does not help
