TYRA BANKS SHOW: WOMEN WHO BLEACH THEIR SKINS AND THEIR CHILDRENS SKIN

Vodpod videos no longer available.

These women need HELP and I think they are aware they have issues….  SERIOUS issues…..

At the start I was hurling abuse at these women, but now I just feel sad for them. It’s people within our own community who have made them feel this way about themselves. Family members and so-called friends with their off the cuff remarks always making reference to their darker skin complexions, who have made them go to such extreme lengths to achieve lighter skin.

I remember a good friend of mine telling me about past heated arguments that she would have with her brother, when they were younger. Her brother would always say “anyway who would want you? Look at you you’re so black”.

Thankfully my friend had enough self esteem to ignore her brother’s ignorant remarks and loves her complexion.

  1. Wow!
“Young, black male, and I’m in employment so Daddy’s little girl wants to have me as a boyfriend,
But it’s a bitter dissappointment when I see my Queen bleach her skin with the ointment!”

Men look at what we driving our women to do. There’s and underlying and fundamental problem when a community of people can not see the plain fact that they are beautiful internally and externally and hence aspire to be something/somebody else.

  2. Absolutely shocking – this is the first time that i’ve seen anything like this where the women that bleach their skin are actually confronted, as opposed to hiding in their shame. I really champion Tyra for doing this.

Le Tosha, Le Tisha, Le Dumb Ass…… they really make me sick with their lame excuses of childhood name calling etc. It’s just an excuse for their shallowness. Most dark skin women do experience favouritism over their lighter skin friends. I have many times, I just don’t associate myself with those types of shallow men or women. As long as me and my fairer skinned friend remain tight, what else matters. The world is full of shallow people, JUST LOVE YOUR SELF AND BE COOL.

Tyra is dead right, to expose these women as being weak and I’m glad that she did not jump on the, ” woe is me I am so black and ugly feel sorry for me route”. She exposed them for what they are vain and sad.

The fake doctors experiment just showed that no amount of pep talks from doctors talking about the dangers/evils of these creams will make these women stop. They will still go to all lengths to bleach their skin, no matter what the consequence !!! Hell look at Michael Jackson. I don’t know if his lighter skin is a result of using bleaching, or something more sinister, whichever the case he looks abnormal.

The saddest thing for me and that got me right in the chest was the woman that bleaches her childrens skin . F–king evil !!!. When questioned by it, by the lady who was crying, all she did was laugh uncomfortably in her embarassment. Pathetic !!!

Sad fact remains the reason why there are so many creams available , is because the demand is so high – NO AMOUNT OF EDUCATION IS GOING TO CHANGE THAT OR STOP THESE WOMEN FROM BEING DUMB !!!

One thing I did find strange and absolutely pointless was Bre, who interviewed white women. WTF was that about !!!. Wasnt her findings inevitable. Why would a white woman want to use bleaching cream. Absolutely pointless excercise !!!

  3. I just did a long thread and got thrown out of this! nooooo!

    To cut to the chase.

Being a dark skinned woman with her own high levels of baggage 🙂 I can’t forget the numerous occasiions in my youth where I was derided for being dark or ‘blakatak’ as I was so termed. STOP…i do have to say that this one did make me laugh, not necessarily with them but it just sounds funny..Sorry I digress..

My longer than expected point is that at at ime when we can’t move for hearing about ‘black men/boys needing role models’, how is that black women/girls don’t need them?

I mean my harshest critics who cussed me with venom about my tone were black men with the SAME tone. This is something we all know is true, how many times have you seen a dark skinned black man with a darker sister? Oh sure, exceptions to the rule blah blah blah but I know that these guys have serious issues.

ALL WOMEN wish be viewed as desirable. Big bad old society can take some of that blame but brothers, seriously.

I would be intrigued to hear the black male viewpoint with an honesty that transcends the usual ‘black women are queens’ glossover.

  4. Only love will heal. The important thing is to KNOW thyself. Know your heritage and of all the great people from the past that were all shades of brown which is what the term “hue” means. Do not help destroy the Hu-man race. Black women are beautiful…ALL SHADES. We are the thread that holds the family together. Whatever happened to “The blacker the berry the sweeter the juice”. Anyway, beauty is vein. It is about your heart (inner beauty) and if your heart is not clean…there will be everlasting issues regardless of your complexion. This is an abomination to The Almighty Father and I pray for every soul on this panel. I am dark AND natural and I get MUCH LOVE! If you don’t believe me…visit my page…www.myspace.com/dred_queen
I’m proud of my hair, skin, features and most of all…My Heart. Make up is just what it says…made-up;artificial. My preference is to be real…what about you? The Love must continue and the search must go on foreva! Hold strong Black Queens!

  5. “It’s just like when you’ve got some coffee that’s too black, which means it’s too strong. What do you do? You integrate it with cream, you make it weak. But if you pour too much cream in it, you won’t even know you ever had coffee. It used to hot, it becomes cool. It used to be strong, it becomes weak. It used to wake you up, now it puts you to sleep.”
A race of people is like an individual man; until it uses its own talent, takes pride in its own history, expresses its own heritage, affirms its own selfhood, it can never fulfill itself.” MALCOM X

  6. I dont get it. Why is spending thousands and thousands of dollars on tanning less worse then bleaching? They both can cause skincancer. It has nothing to do with self-hate. Its just what you prefer. Some people prefer two shades darker some lighter. You can do whatever you want but doing that on your children is a little over the top. Thank you Tyra, for again causing social disturbances for the sake of your talkshow.

  7. Are any of you dark skin black? If you are then yes I respect you of being apposed of skin bleaching. To any others it’s like being white they will never truely understand what it feels to be called nigga. Just like you will never understnad how badly dark skinned black people are treated.I am light skinned black and I don’t understand all of the issues but i want to bleach my skin also. Not because i’m not proud of my roots or I completely hate dark skin but I do think if I bleach I will look prettier and feel alot more happy because I look better. Also I think there right as black men and the white men who fancy black girls do tend to go for the lighter skins.

  8. This is shoking to me. I never thought that ppl acctually went to those extremes to change what they look like. Color is beautiful, this is a new generation. Now ppl are more accepting of color and I think that this a big change and I am proud of being a women of color and of latin decent

  9. i think this is more of a predominant issue in America, because were im from which is the United Kingdom, London. If we are only looking at it from an male angel, Dark skin women/girls are much loved here and really it is not a problem, however maybe if not alot guys did like dark skinned girls then those girls would hate themselves. So i do think it is based on society, especially men.
I have alot of light skinned friends, and more of half the time i am the only one getting chatted up with compliments saying they love my dark skin.
I love my dark skin, not only because men do, it is because this is what makes me and my heritage and i am proud and beautiful jus like any other light skinned women.
These women really need to fix up, its a disgrace really.

  10. THIS IS A VERY CONTROVERSIAL ISSUE BUT IT’S NOT JUST THE BLACKS DOING IT. iT’S THE ASIAN, BLACKS, INDIANS, AND DARK SKIN LATINOS. i AM FROM THE CARIBBEAN AND I KNOW PEOPLE THAT USE THE PRODUCTS I HAVENT HEARD OF THEM USING IT ON THE KIDS. THAT IS A BIT EXTREME. IF YOU WANTED YELLOW KIDS THEN GET A PUERTORICAN, ARAB, JEWISH OR CAUCASIAN MAN. WHY WOLD U DO THAT TO YOUR KIDS. THAT IS SICK. I KNOW OF ALOT OF PEOPLE THAT USE DIFFERENT PRODUCTS. I MET SOME GURLS THAT WAS FROM J.A THAT IS HOW I LEARN HOW TO USE SOME PRODCTS TO ACHIEVE AN OVERALL EVEN SKIN TONE. I
I DON’T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH ANYONE DOING ANYTHING THAT THEY THINK WOULD MAKE THEM HAPPY IT IS ALL ABOUT PERSONAL CHOICES. JUST LIKE PEOPLE GET TANS TO APPEAR DARKER. BREAST IMPLANTS, RHINOPLASTY, BUTT IMPLANTS. THESE ARE ALL PERSONAL CHOICES. MY ADVICE TO EVERYONE IF YOU DO DECIDE TO LIGHTEN YOUR SKIN MAKE SURE YOU DO YOUR RESEARCH ON VARIOUS INGREDIENTS IN PRODUCTS TO MAKE SURE IT IS SAFE. JUST LIKE YOU WOULD DO IF YOU WAS CHANGING SOMETHING ON YOU FACE WITH COSMETIC SURGERY.

  11. Being a young light skinned somalian i never had to go through this , but i am amazed by what these people are doing to there own children this is very dangerous in many ways and will damage your skin . you have to be proud of your skin and your ethniticy . This doesnt make you happy does it really it makes you a fool and jus plain pathetic, seriously this is a little advice get your life sorted .

  12. Okay, so, I’m light, only because my Mom (beautifully dark skinned black) had me with my Mixed-Race Dad.
But even I, at 13, can tell that ^ is REALLY messed up.
You can tell the women have obsecurities. But lots of ppl just call them ‘Self-Haters’, they hate what they are, they can’t stand being who they are – Black. I bet, if it came to Bleaching, or being a different Race, they would choose that over BLeaching.

And that Woman bleaching her Kids???
Don’t get me started, I was crying, too. Isn’t she abusing her children, then? If there are known harmful chemicals in the bleach, and she’s putting them on her already, gorgeous, black boys?
Even, if I had, the most darkest children in the whole world, I would never, ever, even consider bleaching, because I would love my child no matter what, it was that Woman’s own problem, but now she’s told her son’s that they HAVE to, and lighter skined people are better than darker skinned? And did you see that video? How she said, ”
” THIS ONE HERE ” Gets an extra coat?
It was like she hated her dark skinned child, it disgusted me, and i’m surprised Tyra (god bless her) didn’t loose her nerve and knock her out 😐 .

  13. I’m light skin and i love when my skin gets darker, all dark skin ppl are beautiful and it’s a shame these women and others like them choose to destroy there beauty, and can’t see how amazing how it is. And ppl who put down darker skin ppl are idiots and ignorant.

  14. THIS IS SERIOUS-THIS IS RACIAL SUICIDE FOR BLACKS WHEN THEY DON’T ACCEPT THE BEAUTIFUL BLACK SKIN GOD HAS GIVEN THEM! AND THIS HAS REACHED EPIDEMIC PORTIONS IN JAMAICA,AND NIGERIA AND THRU OUT AFRICA,WHERE THEY HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE “I WANT TO BE WHITE”LEVEL! AT MY BLOG “BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL!” WE FIGHT THIS! YOU MUST TOO!
