Not only do we have the MOBO Awards, we also have the UMA’s (Urban Music Awards) which will take place  in November. Yey!!!!

Estelle is again leading the way in award nominations, this time picking up nods in five categories for the UK Urban Music Awards (UMAs).

Last week, it was revealed that the singer, 28, had five nods for this year’s MOBO (Music of Black Origin Awards).

Dance act Booty Luv are up for three UMAs – best crossover act, best dance act and best group – while Leona Lewis is up for best R&B act and best album.

The public-voted UMAs take place at London’s O2 Arena on 15 November.

Other acts to be nominated in two categories were singers Craig David and Jay Sean, rappers Dizzee Rascal and Sway and grime artist Tinchy Stryder.

Everything is Borrowed by Mike Skinner’s The Streets – only released on Monday – is up for best album while Skinner, who has run his own record label, is up for best entrepreneur.

Singer Amy Winehouse is nominated for best neo-soul act while Mark Ronson, who won best British male at the Brits in February, gets a nod for best producer. (Source)

Craig David… really???? His last effort flopped.

Does anyone have the full nomination list? I’m curious…..

  1. The Urban Music Awards is the real deal… I have been nominating and voting for 6 years now and i went for the first time last year. I just admired the fact that it was unpretentious and that they supported UK music from long time ago compared to others who chose to support only American acts. The nominees this year look good, i’ve just voted for Dizzee Rascal , Sway Leona Lewis and Duffy @ , cause i think they deserve to win!!

Anyne knows where to pick up tickets from. Just called ticketmaster..? They don’t seem to have a clue??

  2. can’t knock Dizzie, he works his socks off and deserves to be where he is today, even if it was by luck that the window opened and he got through it first and then it shut…hehe kind of!

  3. The Urban music awards is one of the few events reaching to both the public and the alisters.I am a devoted fan and i attend every year.To get tickets you can contact the marketing director by checking their website for details.
