Last night rap legends Dre Dre and Snoop Dogg shared the stage at the Coachella music festival and performed their classic anthems. The late Tupac Shakur also appeared on stage with them. I was a huge Pac fan but this actually sent chills up my spine. Via The Voice An eighteen year old woman has died after falling from the 17th floor of a block of flats during a police raid in Woolwich, south-east London, this morning. Police had entered the tower block on Mulgrave Road at 9.30am to carry out an arrest enquiry and shortly after their entrance the woman fell from a bedroom window located on the 17th floor. Via BBC News Whitney Houston’s death was caused by accidental drowning, but drug abuse and heart disease were also factors, a coroner has ruled. Coroner’s spokesman Craig Harvey said drug tests indicated the 48-year-old US singer was a chronic cocaine user. The announcement ends weeks of speculation over the cause of Houston’s death. It has been announced that Oprah Winfrey will interview the late Whitney Houston’s daughter Bobbi-Christina and her other family members.The interview will air on the Oprah Winfrey Network. “Oprah’s Next Chapter” will feature an interview with 18-year-old Bobbi Kristina, Houston’s only child. It will also include Patricia Houston, who’s the singer’s sister-in-law and manager, as well as the singer’s brother Gary. It is scheduled to air March 11. Oprah doesn’t waste time does she? The BBC reports that the singer Elisabeth Welch is to be commemorated with an English Heritage blue plaque in south-west London. Welch is the second black woman to be honoured with a blue plaque in London (who was the first?) The plaque will be unveiled in Ovington Court, Kensington, which was her home during the 1930s when she rose to fame on the cabaret circuit. Singer Whitney Houston’s funeral took place today in her hometown of Newark, New Jersey. Among the mourners were Oprah Winfrey, R.Kelly, Mary J Blige, Kevin Costner and Mariah Carey. I watched the entire service on CNN. It was uplifting but also heartbreaking. I still cannot believe that Whitney has left us so tragically at the age of 48. The star will be buried tomorrow. The legendary Etta James (born Jamesetta Hawkins) has died. The singer was diagnosed with leukaemia last year and died today aged 73. During her career Etta won six Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993. … Rest In Peace Etta James.
