UK rapper Giggs was interviewed before his surprise appearance on stage at the MOBO Awards (Music Of Black Origin) on Thursday night. At the beginning of this footage it says ‘Giggs chats to Max’, but it should actually say ‘Max chats to Giggs’, because she’s the one doing most of the chatting. I’ve come to the conclusion that Giggs is shy and a nervous wreck when being interviewed, which explains the one/two word answers. I think his label should fly him over to the States and send […]

Most of you will know by now that I don’t have much time for rap/grime acts from these shores (bar a few) but this performance (believe it or not) was the only highlight (for soooooooo many reasons ha ha) of an other wise uneventful and painful evening. I would like to hear Jay-Z, Eminem, Fabolous and Kanye rapping over this beat. Anyway your thoughts on the performance please. Hit or Miss?

Via K’naan’s twitter “Thanks for the MOBO Award UK! It’s an honor to win Best African Act having lived outside of the continent most of my life now.” [Thanks Marvin Sparks] Hmmmmm….

Well the ‘highly anticipated’ MOBO Awards ended an hour ago, and they should never hold the event in Liverpool again. The only time the audience showed any real enthusiasm was when premiership footballers ( I cannot remember his name) Tim Cahill and Tim Howard appeared on stage to present an award, and when Billy Ocean collected a lifetime achievement award. But other than that they were pretty mute. US rapper Nelly performed his new single but surprisingly didn’t close the show (I thought […]

This is just a reminder to all my UK-based visitors… The MOBO Awards will air live on BBC 3 tonight (20th October) at 9pm. However it will clash with The Apprentice (over on BBC 1 at 9pm). I love that show and Lord Sugar, but I feel I have a duty to tune in to the car crash over on BBC 3. In other news… It’s been reported that X-Factor reject Gamu Nhengu will appear on stage to sing alongside boy band JLS.

It was announced today that producer/DJ Mark Ronson has now been added to the line up for the MOBO Awards 2010. Can somebody please tell me why the annoying, pretentious and over-rated Mark Ronson has been added to the line up? First the MOBO committee ignore the most successful UK “urban” act of 2010 Tinie Tempah and opt instead to draft in US rapper Nelly as the event’s headliner like we’re in the year 2002, and now this. All I can do is laugh. *I’ve been told that Nelly’s latest single Just A Dream has been certified platinum Stateside, but I am having […]

The nominees for the forthcoming 2010 Mobo Awards extravaganza were announced last night and this morning only one question is being asked. What happened to the Best DJ category???? This year the MOBO committee has decided to ignore the nations DJ’s and as you can imagine ego’s have been bruised. Previous winners Tim Westwood and Trevor Nelson must be punching brick walls right now in a fit of rage. So why the decision to remove this popular category from the list Kanya? Enquiring minds want to […]
