‘The Big Questions’ debate on reparations aired on Sunday (March 23). This has to be the first time in living memory that a discussion of this nature has taken place on British television where a black person has brought up some uncomfortable truths and put forward their views without being constantly interrupted, shouted down and patronised. Well done to Esther Stanford -Xosei who presented a brilliant case for reparations and schooled the nation. Brilliant!

BBC WORLD PRESENTER KOMLA DUMOR DIES

It has been reported that BBC TV presenter Komla Dumor has died at his home in London. He was 41 years old. Ghana-born Dumor was a presenter for BBC World News and its Focus on Africa programme. One of Ghana’s best-known journalists, he joined the BBC as a radio broadcaster in 2007 after a decade of journalism in Ghana. DIRECTOR STEVE MCQUEEN SET TO MAKE ‘EPIC’ BBC BLACK BRITISH EXPERIENCE DRAMA

Shadow and Act reports that award-winning director Steve McQueen is planning to make a BBC drama on the black experience in Britain, from 1968 to 2014. McQueen says the series will be “epic in scope,” and will chronicle the lives of a group of friends and their families from 1968 to 2014.
