Singer Whitney Houston’s funeral took place today in her hometown of Newark, New Jersey. Among the mourners were Oprah Winfrey, R.Kelly, Mary J Blige, Kevin Costner and Mariah Carey. I watched the entire service on CNN. It was uplifting but also heartbreaking. I still cannot believe that Whitney has left us so tragically at the age of 48. The star will be buried tomorrow. Mariah Carey has announced on Twitter that her husband Nick Cannon has been admitted to hospital suffering from “mild kidney failure”. Gary Dobson and David Norris who were FINALLY found guilty of the 1993 racist murder of Stephen Lawrence in south-east London were jailed for life today. Dobson will serve a minimum of 15 years and two months, and Norris 14 years and three months. The pair were sentenced at the Old Bailey under guidelines in place at the time of the attack and as juveniles because both had been under 18. Gary Dobson and David Norris were found guilty by an Old Bailey jury after a trial based on forensic evidence.
