UK TV: EASTENDERS CONFIRMS MERCY’S DEPARTURE

Digital Spy reports that actress Bunmi Mojekwu who plays Mercy Olubunmi in the BBC 1 soap Eastenders, will be written out of the hit show later this year. EastEnders bosses have today confirmed that Mercy Olubunmi will be leaving Albert Square later this year. The Walford student, played by actress Bunmi Mojekwu, will bow out on-screen in the summer after a year as a regular cast member on the show. Since it was announced earlier today that Midsomer Murders co-creator/producer Brian True-May has now been suspended, after saying in an interview that there was no place for ethnic minorities in his show, the fans and the show’s stars have come out to support him.
