UK MUSIC: HAZE FT SINCERE AND GHETTS – WHERE I’M FROM

… The new breed of UK rapper love to talk about “stacking P” (I am guessing that’s Pound Sterling) and seem desperate to show the world ( in particular America) that ‘yeah London is the new Compton fam’ (hahaha). I find this all highly amusing. The Track – Where I’m From isn’t bad and the producer did a relatively decent job. The Video – The director should have also shot footage of the amount of dog mess that can be seen on London’s streets. That would have helped []

UK MUSIC NEWS: ESTELLE RECEIVES GRAMMY NOMINATION

It has been announced that British artist Estelle has received a Best R&B performance Grammy nomination for her single Thank You. At first I was confused because I don’t remember Estelle releasing any new music this year. But then I rarely pay that much attention to what’s going on in the music industry these days. Anyway packing her bags and relocating to the country where dreams can come true really did pay off. … Thank You sounds decent and has a Sade vibe going on. Even though for some baffling reason []

CLASSIC DANCE MOVIE CLIP OF THE DAY: BREAKDANCE / BREAKIN (1984)

Long before the dance cheesefest Step Up and the UK’s even cheesier Street Dance came Breakdance (In America the film was called Breakin but in the UK the title was changed to Breakdance). I LOVED this film when I was a kid and as far as I am concerned it is a classic. Check out a young fresh faced Ice T in the clip below.  Hahaha. Ozone and Turbo meet Elektrorock at the club for a battle. Ice T is the MC! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vtIXFxfnfU

UK NEWS: MAN CLEARED OF RACIAL ABUSE AFTER CLAIMING HE USES THE WORD ‘NIGGER’ AS A “TERM OF ENDEARMENT”

Old Christopher Jones here probably plays ‘Niggas In Paris’ morning, noon and night. Well when you have idiotic black rappers successfully pushing this vile word in to the mainstream and Jay-Z sitting opposite Oprah (a woman born and raised in the deep South during a time of segregation, lynchings and Civil Rights marches) telling her and millions of viewers that “it’s now a “term of endearment. We have reclaimed the word” ( Erm..how can we reclaim a word that we never gave to ourselves Einstein?) then this foolishness below was bound to happen at some []
