After it was announced yesterday that former prime minister Baroness Margaret Thatcher had died her critics took to the streets in celebration across the country. In Brixton, Glasgow and Leeds people opened champagne and cheered, shouting: “Maggie, Maggie, Maggie, dead, dead, dead”. The celebrations continued in to the early hours of this morning and police struggled to disperse the crowds that gathered. (Interestingly enough I did not see any black people celebrating Thatcher’s death outside The Ritzy in Brixton). Yesterday The Daily Telegraph closed their online comment section because of the abuse aimed at Thatcher and […]
Check out country singer Brad Paisley’s rather bizarre duet with Hip Hop pioneer LL Cool J. Brad tackles the subject matter of racism in the deep south ( where he is from) and defends his right to wear a T-Shirt with the Confederate flag on it, and LL then jumps in and raps about gold chains and doo-rags. Your thoughts please….

When vocal powerhouse and House music legend Kim Mazelle appeared on The Voice UK last night I just could not believe what I was seeing. I am still shaking my head in disbelief. Why Kym why??? This woman does not need a show like The Voice. And none of those judges could EVER school Kym on how to sing. It was just so awkward and I got the distinct impression that Kym was a little taken back when she announced her name and none of the judges knew who she was (look at […]
The beginning of a dream realised. When I’mPOSSIBLE started in 2009 we were very aware of the mammoth task ahead of us. Rebalancing the negative rhetoric around women of colour, getting this group to define success on its own terms and most of all, getting young girls of colour to realise their possibilities through presenting the life journeys of others who look like them and are POSSIBLE. This event particularly ties into one of the organisation’s goals of helping to change the […]
