Set to take place on Sun 23rd February at the Park Plaza, Riverbank, the 9th Screen Nation Awards will be hosted by gorgeous LA based movie actress Caroline Chikezie alongside Ali Baba, aka the Godfather of Nigerian comedy, with the show set to be broadcast mid March 2014 on Vox Africa (Sky218) and across the Africa continent on the DStv platform.
Themed under Nigeria @100 and with a special celebration of black British Women in film & TV, industry backed Achievement Awards, presented by a host of well-known faces, will recognize both audience favorites and emerging British film & TV talent. The ceremony will be held in the presence of His Excellency, the High Commissioner of Nigeria and will feature top British Nigerians touted for Oscar nominations, Olympic and world sporting champions, titans of business and finance, crème de la crème of Nollywood alongside many more from the worlds of politics, media and high society.
As usual the Awards will also feature the cream of the urban black British film & TV scene alongside established mainstream stars from the worlds of sport, music, fashion, media and politics.
Invited guest of honour and recipient of this year’s Outstanding Contribution Award will be Bill Duke the highly respected African-American Hollywood star actor, director and producer and the striking and charismatic star of some of the most outstanding and compelling American movies, television and theatre of the past four decades.
In celebration of their anniversary years, 2014 award recipients will include a Classic Movie Award for Spike Lee’s classic New York movie Do the Right Thing, celebrating its 25th year since release and Classic TV Awards for Desmond’s, Channel 4’s most successful comedy of all time celebrating its 25th anniversary year and The Cosby Show, the iconic American comedy classic as it reaches its 30th anniversary year.
