The Zanu-PF party leader has been elected for further five-year term but the vote is rejected by opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai as fraudulent.
The European Union said it was concerned about alleged irregularities and a lack of transparency in the election, its strongest criticism so far. The EU’s verdict on the fairness of the elections will be crucial to deciding whether it continues to ease sanctions on the African country.
