REEBOK DROPS RAPPER RICK ROSS OVER RAPE LYRICS CONTROVERSY

Ricky Ross

Sports apparel giant Reebok has bowed down to pressure and ended their partnership with rapper Rick Ross.

Reebok issued the following statement:

“Reebok holds our partners to a high standard, and we expect them to live up to the values of our brand.  Unfortunately, Rick Ross has failed to do so. While we do not believe that Rick Ross condones sexual assault, we are very disappointed he has yet to display an understanding of the seriousness of this issue or an appropriate level of remorse. At this time, it is in everyone’s best interest for Reebok to end its partnership with Mr. Ross.

Rick’s feeble attempt at an apology was insulting and lacked sincerity.

For those of you who missed the controversy Rick angered many when he rapped about drugging and raping a woman on the Rocko track “U.O.E.N.O.” (You Ain’t Even Know It).

Struggling rapper/Monica’s baby father Rocko has now reluctantly removed Rick’s verse from the track and told radio station Hot 97,

“With all respect to the homie Ross… It’s a Catch-22. I don’t want to take him off. But one thing that’s set in stone is he’s always going to be on that song. It doesn’t matter who I put on the song, that’s going to always be the original version. It’s not like I can do another version and call it the original.”

Like Rick this idiot still doesn’t understand the seriousness of this issue.

And I don’t understand why Reebok went in to partnership with Rick in the first place. I mean look at the man, he is hardly a picture of health and fitness.

  1. What Reebok’s really meant to say:-

“We cannot care less about what he said as long as he makes this money for us, but seen as some of our core consumers signed this big ole petition telling us to drop him or we boycott your goods…well, we had to let the big man go”.

  2. If most of these endorsers cared, many rap artists who are mega rich because of same endorsers would not be where they are now or anywhere near famous as they are. They constantly scrape at the bottom of the burrow and lift them to high status. But as we all know they target the poor kids and or families. They are the ones who are heavily involved in this culture and sense of style.

  3. Artists need to be more responsible in the types of music they put out. If he only considers his actions now his wallet has been hurt maybe we can see more constructive music.

irrespective about my views on Rick Ross, hip hop etc has been around for 30 odd years now and the prevalent misogyny of the past 20 years needs to stop.

    Spot on!

His drugs and gun lyrics never caused them much worry.
