Nadzeya Ostapchuk

Female shot putter Nadzeya Ostapchuk has been stripped of her gold medal after failing a drugs test.

The 31-year-old athlete from Belarus tested positive for anabolic agent metenolone.

The gold medal will now go to New Zealand’s Valerie Adams, silver will go to Russia’s Evgeniia Kolodko and Lijiao Gong of China will get the bronze medal.

When I first saw Nadzeya Ostapchuk competing I thought she was a man. I was suspicious. Nadzeya looked like a blast from the past when many of the female athletes from Eastern Europe used to gulp down steroids to such an extent that they actually began to look like men.

But what a stupid woman. Why do this? Now her career is finished.
