The UK Film council reports that highly anticipated “URBAN” films ‘SKET’ and ‘Demons Never Die’ pulled in the following figures (October 28th weekend gross).
‘Demons Never Die’ opened in 121 cinemas and has grossed £29,464 to date.
‘SKET’ opened in 66 cinemas and has grossed £70,299 to date.

oh dear
LMAO!
I’m not too familiar with box office figures, so forgive me for asking, but are these numbers good or bad?
PS, I’ve noticed ‘Sket’ opened in 66 cinemas and grossed £70,299, while Demons Never Die opened in 121 cinemas and have only made £29,464. Interesting.
ones doing better than the other~~
So, by my rough maths, over 3 days, Demons managed on average £243 per cinema. Say £7 per ticket, that’s around 35 people. In other words, on average, in each of the 121 cinemas, around 12 people per day went to see Demon Never Dies.
@Southwest
It’s not good…..
Is that good or bad? UK box office figures mean nothing to me. Did they actually break even?
ahahahahahahahaha you’ve made my day with this post. I’m so happy these flopped after the cinemas in the UK tried to mess up the Lover’s Rock film, a postive black film.
a clear sign the “urban” film scene needs to umm come up with something new
wow this might mean no more urban films at all since they always like churning the same old stereotypical narratives. Unless “Top Boy” the movie comes out one day or something like that.
Oh wow these figures are poor ! Does anyone know if they broke even?
Happy that this highlights the need for change. Moving on…….
Read here that Sket (and Anavahood) was made for “under £500,000” – http://www.screendaily.com/screenbase/uk/revolver-shoots-for-two-new-gunslinger-productions/5013921.article
Assuming the figure is more than £400,000, I guess the makers must be hoping to recoup their investment from DVD sales… but the audience for these types of films aint gonna go out and buy it!
It is bad. Very, very bad for a movie to gross a TOTALLY pathetic amount of £29 000 or even £70 000! That’s beyond disastrous!
Look at it this way, the actors need to be paid. The director, producer, writer, music supervisor, production designer, costume designer, the drivers (who’ll ferry the equipment from here to there), editor etc etc. THEY ALL NEED TO BE PAID! Let’s not even go there with finances regarding the promotion of the movie.
I think the riots showed that the key audience for these movies have no money!!!
lol at Melissa. I couldn’t have put it better myself
