Grime Daily has issued a statement addressing the shooting that took place this past weekend at their 1st anniversary party.
In regards to the incident on Saturday 10th April 2010. For those who attended; although we are grateful that you chose to celebrate our anniversary with us, we also regret that you were exposed to that environment and subsequent disaster on the night.
The sole intention of the event was to celebrate the achievements of the Grime Daily team over the past year, and we extended the invitation to our supporters, friends and family. We apologise for any confusion or miscommunication about the purpose and nature of this event.Our thoughts, prayers and concerns lie with the two individuals injured, and we hope that both are able to pull through and make a full and speedy recovery.There was no grime music played at this event, and the events on the night should therefore not reflect anything to do with the genre grime. Grime Daily supports the talent and the future of UK music – particularly Grime, and we hope that neither the name or reputation of the scene have been tarnished by this event.
We would also like to make it clear that Grime Daily does not participate or endorse the violent behaviour committed by some individuals on the night. We can assure you all that this is an isolated incident, and the Grime Daily team will take every step necessary to ensure the safety of all attendees at any events we are associated with in the future.

When the music is called Grime, you call your publication Grime Daily, you support artists of Grime music and you host a Grime function, grimey situations are bound to unfold and take place, it isn’t rocket science to figure this out. How can you say that you do not “participate or endorse the violent behaviour committed by some individuals on the night”, yet the very definitions of the word grime according to the Oxford Dictionary 2003 edition are as follows:
Grime – Dirt ingrained on the surface of something, to blacken or to make dirty.
Grime is basically dirt and filth, so expect dirty and filthy characters under that title at your events, period. This is the level of linear reprobate thinking that is encountered on a day basis in this country. 2+2 still equals 4 that last time I checked.
I agree Verbs2010…..how on earth can they try to distance themselves away from Grime scene and music, when that is what their website promotes??? Thats pure foolishness!

What a load of shit was that statement. If you create a website for the purpose of promoting Grime music and Grime artists, and then hold an event to celebrate the whole basis of your website, of course you are going to have to take full responsibility of what happens at any of your given events.

Whoever issued or wrote that statemet should get sacked cos if I, a 16yr old can see the bullshit within in from a mile off..so can any industry critic.
