Former 3LW group member and former Disney Cheetah Girl Kiely Williams, has come out and defended her sexually charged track Spectacular and it’s video.

The singer/actress says,

I am an actor and performer. I have been so since my first role in a television pilot at five years old. I played a character when I was a “Cheetah Girl.” I am playing a character in the music video for the song “Spectacular,” as I did in the “Cheetah Girl” movies. Young women across the country get intoxicated and have unprotected sex. That’s a fact. I recorded the song to bring attention to this frighteningly prevalent activity. It is absurd to infer or suggest that I am condoning this behavior.

Are Lady Gaga and Beyonce advocating murder with the “Telephone” video? Of, course not. Was Rihanna encouraging suicide with “Russian Roulette?” No. Was Madonna suggesting that young unmarried girls get pregnant with “Papa Don’t Preach?” I don’t think so. Is Academy Award winner Monique a proponent of incest because of her portrayal of Mary in the movie “Precious.” Clearly, the answer is no.

I wrote “Spectacular” and made the video to bring attention to a serious women’s health and safety issue.

Please don’t shoot the messenger.

Your thoughts please….

  1. “…bring attention to a serious women’s health and safety issue”. Where does the Spectacular sex come in all this?

  2. i dont understand the song how can she know the sex was spectacular if she doesnt even remember it ?

  3. That is how many youths live these days. They go to clubs to get drunk, and being drunk senseless is considered having fun, it is the same concept here. Some go to great lengths of putting spirits through their eyes to get drunk faster. People are running away from reality, but reality will catch up with them eventually. Which explains the senseless music we have overly saturated anyway. It fits the concept pretty much.

  4. lati, I definitely agree with your point of view.

But I cannot throw stones at this young lady. To me she is coming out too late in the game with this whole concept. I have watched and listened to many Artists that should have been shut down years ago. We accepted lil kim, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, etc. where was the outcry then??? She was probably a fan of all these ladies and obviously she is mimicking all of what she saw and heard from them because just looking at the video these Artists came to mind. SMH! I don’t like this video or song, it’s trash to me. but she’s no better or worst than the others that were before her. Those ladies were bad example for our littile girls. And like I’ve said before. This child is just the outcome of all the other Ladies images. Our kids are in trouble because we failed them by exposing this kind of garbage.

  5. I agree Ms Eva. It is what many youths can relate to unfortunately and do not know otherwise. Bring a decent song and i promise they won’t have a clue what it is about. I mean, we all know who tops the charts, well, we buy the music especially the young ones who know only what they are given. She’s a product of our music taste and life style, unfortunately. Ok, not all of us but hey, it says something.

  6. Beyonce, lady gaga and Rihanna are not the problem, the problem is we the buying the public. If we buy it, they will produce it, and if it is what sells, it is what will be created. That is the way i look at it. Well, if we stopped buying it they would be more constructive but since we like it and it is what sells, who is to stop them and anyone else from making it.

  7. I finally watched this today and am almost speechless….
I think she should have gone the whole hog and just got the camera man to just film one shot of her legs akimbo with no knickers would be cheaper and would leave something to the imagination-lol!

  8. I don’t think she has another plan in life. She seems desperate to stay in the public eye. It seems like a trial and error move on her part. I think Oluchi made a smart move when she did a business course in the midst of her modelling career. That’s a tip now.

  9. Whatever!!!
Go back to the drawing board because really it looks like a desperate cry for help to achieve what you always wanted – solo fame! she is young she needs some Oprah intervention
