Olympic swimming champion Rebecca Adlington has made a formal complaint accusing the BBC of not being tough enough on a comedian who made a joke about her.
In a letter to the BBC Trust, the double gold medallist said she felt Frankie Boyle had been let off with a “slap on the wrist” after he made a jibe about her appearance.
The gag was made on the BBC gameshow Mock The Week when Boyle said Miss Adlington
“resembled someone looking at themselves in the back of a spoon”.

I admit that when I read this story on the train this morning I burst out laughing. Frankie Boyle is one feisty man!
I feel for Rebecca though. She is a young woman and a remark like that is bound to knock her confidence.
Frankie should apologise but he won’t because that’s not his style.

Yeah this joke is funny, not always good if you are at the brunt of it but hey that’s life. She should count her lucky starts that Spitting Image isn’t still around, those Muppets were fierce.
I would have kept quiet and let the joke die off rather than pour petrol on it.
Having said all that Boyle does get on my nerves at times, he tries too hard and no one else can hardly get a word in on Mock the News. I’ve heard he has quit and is about to start his own show. Hmmmm I am in no doubt Boyle will be back on this blog soon, no one will be safe !!!
