SOHH reports that former Roc-A-Fella CEO Damon Dash no longer has the licensing rights to popular sneaker company Pro-Keds. The decision to remove Dash from his 2004 license was based on re-creating a new look for it’s 60th Anniversary.
CEO Greg Ribatt said in a statement,“We thank Damon for his partnership and efforts on the PRO-Keds brand over the past few years, and we look forward to re-launching the brand under the Stride Rite organization to maximize the brand’s full potential. We plan to tap our archives and re-issue the classic styles with fresh new design details, and to build on the brand’s vintage position with a new brand image.”
Pro-Keds was a popular brand on the New York Hip Hop scene back in the 1980s.
Damon Dash is a joker! He gave the impression he OWNED the brand and the company.
Any way what with recent reports surrounding Dame’s fortune, mortgage arrears, problems with the tax man, and his subsequent relegation to Z-list status, its not surprising that Pro-Keds chose to sever ties.
Plus what exactly was he doing for the brand????
SMH… How the mighty fall…….
Remember folks, try to be nice to people on your way up, because you will meet those same people on your way down….
