13 year old Dionne Bromfield sang live last night on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ with her “godmother” Amy Winehouse singing backing vocals. Obviously Dionne’s connection to Amy has opened many doors for her ( hanging out in nightclubs with Amy, signed to a major label, appearing on Strictly etc), but the girl can sing. I was impressed. Via BBC News Boyzone singer Stephen Gately has died suddenly at the age of 33 while on holiday in Majorca. Spanish police said he died on Saturday and that there were no signs of suspicious circumstances. But the cause of death is not yet known. Gately was on holiday with his long-term partner Andy Cowles. His bandmates said they were “completely devastated” and are now travelling to Majorca. Walk These Streets is taken from Rakim’s long-awaited/highly anticipated new album Seventh Seal which will be released on the 16th November. I love Walk These Streets but could have done without hearing other rappers on the track. I just want to hear Rakim! I am really happy because Whitney’s voice is still there! This is the best she has sounded in sometime. Ok it isn’t exactly the same voice we all grew to know and love back in the 80s/90s but this was a good effort. Check out the studio audience’s reaction at the end. People are just happy she’s back.

Production team Perempay & Dee have teamed up with songstress Shola Ama and produced the uptempo track ‘DJ Play’. I quite like the track. It’s catchy and I’ve always liked Shola’s voice. I’m glad she’s back. But I’m not that keen on the new blond look. As for the video..well after watching it I just have one question… who the hell thought it would be a good idea to feature JACK TWEED (Jade Goody’s waste man widower) in the video??? I was left shocked and confused last week when I discovered that two of the most influential individuals from within the ‘rich’, ‘glamorous’ and ‘progressive’ world of UK “Urban” entertainment blocked me from seeing their Twitter updates. When it finally sunk in that Britain’s self proclaimed no.1 comedian and the Head of a popular music channel had blocked me I was left shaken to the core. So shaken, that I still haven’t recovered.
