Via The Independent Ellianna Placas, who has been appointed fashion director at Essence, America’s largest magazine for African-American women, is white. Essence Magazine is conducting a nationwide search for the new African-American “It” model. The winner–to be announced in May–will be featured in the September 2010 Fall Fashion issue of Essence and receive a one-year contract with Elite Model Management!
