Today Hollywood “died digitally” for World AIDS Day, as part of Alicia Keys’ Keep a Child Alive AIDS Awareness Campaign. Celebrities who have Twitter accounts have  ”sacrificed yes that’s right “SACRIFICED” tweeting until $1 million is raised to buy their digital lives back (they believe their fans will miss their presence on Twitter that much), and millionairess Alicia Keys believes that spending thousands of dollars  on this campaign will help HIV/AIDS sufferers living in Africa and India. I know that ‘We Are The World’ has been re-recorded to help raise money for Haiti relief , (oh and let’s not forget, to celebrate it’s 25th anniversary) but some things are best left alone. Music mogul Simon Cowell rounded up a bunch of caring singing superstars, who then went on to re-record the 1992 R.E.M hit ‘Everybody Hurts’ for charity.  Legendary producer Quincy Jones and singer Lionel Richie have announced that they plan to re-record the 1985 charity single We Are The World for Haiti.    Via Billboard  Quincy Jones and Lionel Richie are planning a massive 25th anniversary re-recording of “We Are the World.”  The timing couldn’t be better, sadly enough.  The duo is summoning lots and lots of talent from Grammy weekend to stay an extra night – Monday Feb. 1 – and come to the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. U2, JAY-Z AND SWIZZ BEATZ RECORD SONG FOR HAITI

I just love it when major artists from different genres come together and produce a song within a matter of minutes to raise money for charity… Via BBC News U2, Jay-Z and producer Swizz Beatz have recorded a song together to raise money for victims of the Haiti earthquake. U2’s guitarist The Edge told Irish radio station 2FM the band “wrote a song, finished and recorded” last week after being contacted about the idea. UPDATE: Last week I posted the photographs below that were taken at the 10th Annual New Yorkers For Children Fall Gala. I then asked out loud if the youth workers, foster children, their carers etc had been invited a long to this event, because all I could see were photographs of grinning celebrities.
