[Thanks Lorraine] I enjoyed this debate. The black British community tends to always look at what black Americans have achieved in the world of entertainment etc, but what we have to remember is that none of that happened over night and they STILL have a long way to go. Note to Trish Adudu – I know time was an issue but surely there is a way to stay within the time limit without constantly interrupting the guests.
In a recent interview with The Independent actor Ashley Walters talks about black British actors who complain about the lack of opportunities in Britain and have moved to America …. and multicultural Britain. “Here’s my theory: I looked up to people like Lenny Henry and David Harewood. They were the kind of people who made me want to get into this. But they don’t write enough, they don’t produce enough and they don’t direct enough.” “Lenny’s production company put a film out […]

A bit of a So Solid Crew reunion going on here… well sort of. … “I’m a f**ked up nigga” UK artists really need to stop “following fashion” and calling themselves “niggas/niggers (same word same meaning)” in their verses. … Several months ago a UK artist who often refers to himself as a “nigga” in his verses was left deeply offended when a Caucasian fan called him the “realist nigga”. The artist then replied “Don’t call me a nigga again”. I laughed. Anyway your thoughts please. Hit or Miss?
Actor Ashley Walters recently sat down with MO-AM Network and spoke about his up and coming projects, working with actor/writer/director Noel Clarke, the entertainment industry and women. … I look forward to seeing the up and coming film project with Noel Clarke. I hope I won’t be disappointed.
